Toad (currently known as Lil' T or Todd which is his full name, due to legal threats from Nintendo) is a supporting character in the SML Movies. He serves as a major character of Mario videos, the tritagonist of Junior videos, a minor antagonist of Jeffy videos, the secondary antagonist of Mario and Luigi's Stupid and Dumb Adventures Season 1 and Mario and Bowser's Stupid and Crazy Adventures, and the main antagonist of the Jeffy The Rapper! series, the unfinished Luigi's Mansion series, and Junior the Snack Dealer.

In 2007-2013, he was the most unlucky character in the series and was often beaten (or even killed) by the other characters as a running gag. In 2014 to mid-2016, he became Bowser Junior's best friend. As of late 2016, he was later replaced by Cody, Joseph, Jeffy, and Richard Goodman as Junior's main friends. Even though he doesn't hang out with Junior anymore on-screen, he still hangs out with him off-screen (as proven in The Baseball Game!) even though Junior mainly hangs out with Cody, Joseph, and Jeffy rather than him nowadays.

In comparison to Toad in the Nintendo universe, in the modern SML era, he is depicted as a comedic moron that became a sympathetic rapper.

Why He's the Best Too

1. He may be unbelievably stupid and childish, but he is a very friendly, sympathetic, outgoing, and somewhat eccentric character.
2. He, along with Mario, is one of the most memorable characters in the series.
3. He along with Chef Pee Pee was always a good character even when SML went downhill, he was the least flanderized and the most likable out of all the main characters.
4. He is a good friend to Junior, he's always got his back and never has a malicious bone towards him.
5. His Butt-Monkey status is often funny since it was generally warranted for provoking someone like touching Mama Luigi's nickel for example.
   • Despite this, he can be sympathetic when his Butt-Monkey status is done dramatically, like when the series, later on, portrays him as a loser anyone can empathize and sympathize with him as well, examples of this include the video "Toad is Cool!" that makes this evidently clear with being bullied and mistreated by everyone for being a 'nuisance'.
6. He has provided hilarious moments, mainly because of his stupidity, some of these include clumsily stabbing one of Chef Pee Pee's eyes and getting busted for showing a catchy yet inappropriate video called Twerk It Shake It while at summer school in the episode "SML Movie: Bowser Junior's Summer School 3!".
7. In addition to being a giant pervert, he also likes to play pranks. Some of them can be really funny on occasion, like the Ding Dong Ditch one for example.
8. Both Logan, Luke, and his current actor Lovell Stanton do a great job at voicing him.
9. Despite being perceived as a nuisance by almost everyone, there are characters who can see the good in him. Such examples of these include Junior, Ray Chessy, Bubbles, and Lil Whine.

Bad Qualities

1. He is very perverted for someone who's seemingly the same age as Junior.
   • He is seen making out with Paulina (his sister) throughout the "Summer School" series. Even Junior seems genuinely freaked out by what Toad is implying.
   • Toad really wants an obese woman to sit on him and he likes to chase those strippers.
2. While Toad arguably has scored more women than Mario of all people, "Toad's Girlfriend!" shows that he's not particularly nice to them, as he's seen forcing himself onto Toadette despite her clearly trying to resist him, and he also tells her to go make him a sandwich later in the video. It's not so much that Toad is as abusive as Black Yoshi since he's just a shallow jerk.
3. He has had a record of committing crimes and having his evil moments despite being a supposedly nice person, these include:
   • In "April Fools!," he and Bowser Junior prank called 911. He did the same on "Bowser Junior's Cellphone".
     • He and Bowser Junior both put bleach in Chef Pee Pee's Sprite in April Fools! which caused Chef Pee Pee to die upon drinking it.
   • In "Bowser's Goldfish!", he flushed a live goldfish down the toilet due to his belief thinking that the bathroom will catch fish when toilets are unable to do so.
   • When it comes to being a perfectionist with rapping, Toad is relentless and will do anything to win, even if it means trying to murder him. He will stay the number one rapper, no matter what, and if anyone dares to top him in the charts, he guns them down! All of that aside, he seems to get along with Jeffy at school and is quite friendly with him otherwise.
4. While Toad tends to be one of Bowser Junior's closest friends, he is a very bad influence on him. He always encourages him to do bad stuff, often getting Junior or someone else into trouble. This was in the older episodes.
   • He has often annoyed other characters like Mario, Luigi (in the Mansion series), Black Yoshi, Shrek, and especially Chef Pee Pee. Mainly because of his flamboyance and his levels of ignorance when he'd bother Mario or Chef Pee Pee.
5. While Lovell does an excellent job at voicing Toad, Toad's voice can come off as grating to some viewers, and he has had his grating moments.

Trivia

• Toad's age is not exactly made clear. Nowadays, he's presented as being roughly around the same age as Junior and his friends (being in 1st Grade and all), seeing as they go to the same school together. However, Toad has been in SML videos a lot longer than Junior has.
• Nowadays, Toad is a massive pervert and seems to lust over women like how most rappers view them, usually having at least one woman by his side. Yet it's possible that he's also a bisexual, as earlier videos also show him flirting and pulling moves on Mario, as most evident in "Mario's Wig!", and Black Yoshi even calls him gay numerous times when he gets too clingy during "Toad is Cool!".
• Toad mentioned he got a criminal record for stealing cookies in "Toad's Stupid Idea".
• In Bowser Junior’s Summer School, it was revealed that he and Bowser Junior always skipped school by playing "Ding Dong Ditch." The same episode also implies that they did it many more times before they went to summer school.
• In mid-2017, Toad lost his status as a major character due to the demand for more Jeffy videos, and is now a minor character who makes few appearances from time to time.
