    Timon and Pumbaa are the adoptive father-figures of Simba and major characters in the 1994 animated Disney masterpiece The Lion King. They are voiced by Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella in the animated franchise and voiced by Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen in the 2019 live-action remake.

    Why They're Hakuna Matata!

    1. They are one of Disney’s most unforgettable comedy duos.
    2. They are both great father figures for Simba.
    3. They rescued Simba from nearly dying in the desert and revived him in their jungle home.
    4. They have been shown to have an great, strong and healthy friendship with each other.
    5. Their song "Hakuna Matata" is very unforgettable and is one of the film’s highest praised songs.
    6. Nathan Lane (Timon) and Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa) both do an amazing job voicing them.
      • Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner do surprisingly good jobs voicing them in the 2019 film.
    7. They always have each others’ backs, along with Simba’s.
    8. They get a lot of good laughs out of the audience, like when they try to distract the hyenas via hula dancing.
    9. Pumbaa, while an simpleton by name, serves as a perfect straight-man to Timon's wise-guy.
      • Speaking of which, Pumbaa is a lovable simpleton to Timon's lovable wisecracker.
    10. They both joined Simba in his quest to take back the throne and participated in the battle of Pride Rock, from which Simba and his allies emerged victorious.
    11. They've gained several spin-offs. Speaking of spin-offs, most of the duo's fans wrote several letters about their very own feature film, which was released in 2004.
    12. They're shown to work off each other very well.
    13. They are by far two of the most memorable and likable characters in The Lion King franchise.
    14. They still have their charm in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, The Lion Guard, and the 2019 remake.

    Bad Qualities

    1. Despite being great comic relief characters, some of their gross-out jokes can be unnecessary at times, such as Pumbaa's fart jokes.
    2. Timon can be selfish at times, mainly in their spinoff series and in House of Mouse, but it thankfully often comes off as amusing.

    Trivia

    • Timon and Pumbaa were not in the original script of the 1994 animated movie, but Nathan Lane and Ernie Sabella were so funny when they auditioned for the hyenas, so Disney made characters just for them.
