The Boys are the main protagonists of the the 2nd longest running animated series South Park, consisting on the four boys Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman (or simply Cartman), & Kenny McCormick. Stan is the overall main protagonist, Kyle is the deuteragonist, & Cartman and Kenny are the tritagonists. They are all voiced by the creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

Overall

1. They are the most iconic characters in the South Park franchise.
2. As with almost all South Park characters, their designs are cute.

Stan

1. Out of the boys, he is the most tender out of them.
2. He is very moral and understanding, similarly to Kyle; despite it being more common for the latter doing it. He is also able to sympathize with others.
3. His relationship with Wendy Testaburger is adorable.
4. Stanley's alter-ego known as Toolshed is very cool.
5. He serves as the "straight-man" and pretty much the most normal character of the show.
6. Like his father Randy, Trey Parker does a great job voicing him.
   • He's also based on his actor too.
7. Stanley's iconic quote: "Oh my God, they killed Kenny!"
8. Stanley can be considered the responsible leader of the group.

Kyle

1. He's also a very smart and A+ student in school and he has a lot of useful and trivial talents.
2. He has a positive attitude and he's always willing to help his friends out when he needs to.
3. He's super caring and always polite to his friends and he also believes in working as a team too.
4. He loves to study, sing, dance and play video games during his free time.
5. Particularly in seasons 1-4, his voice is cute and like Kenny and Butters, some want to give him a hug.
6. He's also super caring to his family and he's willing to protect his mom. Despite him kicking Ike in the past episodes, he loves and cares for his little brother very much.
   • Speaking of which, his brotherly relationship with Ike is very underrated.
7. His rivalry with Cartman never gets old.
8. His voice actor, Matt Stone, does an awesome and terrific job at providing his voice.
   • In fact, he's even based on his voice actor too.
9. He's also got some awesome quotes like "I learned something today.", the famous "Kick the baby!" whenever he's about to kick Ike, and "You bastards!" whenever Kenny dies.
10. Like all South Park characters, he's got a cute and unforgettable design.
11. When something goes wrong, Kyle still maintains as a brave and independent young boy who's determined to get the job done.
12. He's true companions with his best friend Stan and their friendship is a fan-favorite trait.
13. His alter-ego, Human Kite, is pretty cool.
14. Despite all the anti-Semitic comments Cartman has made about him, Kyle still manages to put up with them and forgive him.

Cartman

1. His downright evil schemes are very entertaining and funny most of the time.
   • That even led his ex-girlfriend Heidi Turner to act like that in season 21.
2. He mispronounces things in a very funny way like "skewl", "Kahl Broflovski", etc.
   • Not only that, "BUT MIUUUUUUUM!"
3. Despite being racist and homophobic, he was a pretty good role model on how not to act in such a manner.
4. He often gets punished for his bad actions.
5. Like many of the South Park characters, he has a cute design.
6. He mischievous attitude is one of his funniest traits.
7. His rivalry with Kyle never gets old.
   • On top of that, Cartman's rivalry with Scott Tenorman is just as hilarious as his rivalry with Kyle. Not only is Scott Cartman's rival, but he's also his older half-brother too.
8. His insulting song of Kyle's mom is pretty entertaining and catchy.
9. We saw a more kind side of him in season 20. (which was one of the few good things about that season, but it's not long until he even back into his evil side in season 21 onward)
10. His's concept of being a modern-day Archie Bunker-like child is genius.
11. Aside from the bad things he has done, he also did good things at multiple times:
    • Eric saved the world from Saddam Hussein by shocking him with the V-chip that was implanted on him.
    • Eric spared the pangolin that was used to stop the COVID-19 pandemic after listening to Stanley's speech about him wanting his life back.
    • Other good things include saving cows from being slaughtered, curing AIDS, freeing hostages, bringing Ike back, stopping a pedophile, rescuing cats, stopping Osama Bin Laden, and helping Shelley get back at Skyler.
12. Eric's alter-ego, The Coon is laughable, yet cool looking.
13. His abuse towards Butters and Kyle has dialed down a lot.
14. In more recent seasons, Eric is also maturing and slowly but surely redeeming himself and dialing down his evilness.
    • Furthermore, he did say in "Stunning and Brave" that he wanted to start over with Kyle.

Kenny

1. His tendency to constantly die in almost every episode is hilarious in the early seasons.
2. He is immortal, which means he comes back to life in the next episode perfectly.
3. His muffled speech constantly sounds like he's cursing, especially in the intro.
4. His alter-ego Mysterion is amazing and can kick ass, which means that it would be wise not to mess with his sister.
5. His design is cute like the others.
6. He is loyal to his friends a lot.
7. Even though he is very poor, he is a good brother to his sister as he protects her from any harm.
8. He is very sacrificial, as he in the movie, he convinced Satan to break up with Saddam Hussein and wished for everything to go back to normal and even got sent to heaven for his selfless act.
9. He saved everyone in Heaven by playing a PSP game.
10. In addition to protecting his sister, he also knows that he'll be there for her. For example, in "The Poor Kid", he turned into his alter-ego Mysterion and comforts his sister whenever she's feeling alone. And in "The City Part of Town", he bought Karen a new doll for her and gave it to her, which was nice of him.
11. In South Park: Post Covid, he became a scientist and even time traveled to investigate the origin of COVID, showing how much he cared.

Bad Qualities

Stan

1. Although Stan is friendly and kind-hearted, he becomes quite selfish or petty when things don't go the way they are and when something bad happens to him.
2. Stan can often get depressed, especially when Wendy broke up with him thrice; even though on one of the times; specifically in season 20, it wasn't him, but rather Gerald.
   • However, they did finally reunite again in the video game South Park: The Fractured But Whole where they got back together.
3. Various bad things that happen to him are actually his fault.
4. On more than one occasion, he displays a miserable attitude or personality.

Kyle

1. He tends to lose his temper whenever Cartman insults him, picks on him and calls him a Jew. Though it's understandable for him to lose his temper since Eric usually starts the fights first.
2. He laughed at the fact that Cartman had Human Immunodeficiency Virus (which is no laughing matter).
   • Although, Kyle mocking Eric for having HIV might be understandable, as Eric often insults Kyle just for being Jewish.
3. He has some mean-spirited moments from time to time.
4. Despite being the voice of reason, he can be defined as a bad friend when Stan (despite being his best friend),Cartman, Kenny, Butters, Clyde, Token, Craig, Jimmy, Timmy, Kevin and Bradley are in trouble or sad.
5. He was out-of-character for a good part of season twenty-one, specifically in "Super Hard PCness" where he acts like his mom.
6. He has the dubious honor of being the boy with the most love disappointments in the group of boys.
7. He was very unlikeable in "Stunning and Brave" when Eric wanted to start over and offered him the hand of friendship but Kyle blew him off even though Eric promised to never again rip on him for being Jewish.
8. He also unfairly singled out Cartman in Ike's Wee Wee saying all of his friends were like family, except for Cartman which is unacceptable because Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny have been like brothers since the beginning.
   • Again however, it can be understandable as Cartman always insults Kyle.
9. Although Kyle does have every rights to be very angry at Cartman, his temper can sometimes be taken to the worst level possible, up until it's taken to the extreme, like the time he break everything in Cartman's room and even going so far as he decides to break his Xbox "Tonsil Trouble" and threatening to SMASH Cartman's teeth in "It's a Jersey Thing".

Cartman

1. As stated in WHR#2, he can be an idiot at times; in fact, it is frequently suggested throughout the series that he is a psychopath even if he is meant to be like this.
2. Even though Cartman was still a good character, he was somewhat out of character from season 20 and 21, since he's shown to be a "kind person" in those seasons, which isn't his character whatsoever, but at least he got his personality back in season 22.
3. He tends to be mostly egotistical, mean-spirited, and spoiled.
4. He is racist, homophobic, xenophobic, sexist/misogynistic, and ableist as proven by him calling Token a "black a**hole" and using the words "f*gs", "sl*t" and "retarded/retard".
   • Although he normally gets his just desserts, sometimes, he gets off scot-free for his actions, making him a Karma Houdini with episodes like "Scott Tenorman Must Die", "Jared Has Aides" and (to a lesser extent) "Ginger Kids" being the worst offenders.
   • But with all of these bad things, Cartman is slowly maturing.

Kenny

His deaths can sometimes go over-the-top and very sadistic.
