The Talent Suckers are recurring characters from the Cartoon Network series Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi. Vlad and Mitch were voiced by Nathan Carlson and Nicolai was voiced by Corey Burton.
Why They Rock
Overall
- They serve as a nice change of pace from viewers who aren't fans of the cutesy and Japanese palette of the main characters.
- Their ability to drain talent is unique and hilarious. It is the focus of their first appearance, where they drain Ami and Yumi’s talent.
- They are very funny to watch, such as where they offer Mr. Darrell three zlotys and an onion because they don't have six hundred dollars. They are basically The Three Stooges but in vampire form.
- Vlad and Nicolai’s voices are based on Bela Lugosi and Peter Lorre, who were in 1930s Universal monster movies. Mitch’s vocal effects are based on Boris Karloff.
- They are main characters in two episodes, proving that they can work without Ami and Yumi in the spotlight. Their second episode doesn't even have Ami and Yumi in it.
- They make a hilarious and unexpected cameo in Puffy B.C. where they show up in a Time Machine during prehistoric times. They arrived because Nicolai messed up the destruction of their Time Machine.
- Each of them represent the Freudian trio. Vlad represents the ego, Nicolai represents the id and Mitch represents the superego.
Vlad
- Vlad is very good at planning. He plans his friends to either attend concerts, raise the dead or help Mr. Darrell with his debt. He considers himself a genius for that.
- He makes a hilarious and unexpected cameo in the episode “Sound Off” where he and other minor characters are in the character department.
Nicolai
- Nicolai is the most cowardly of the three. He gets upset when Vlad’s plans don't work.
- He is a clever mix between creepy and adorable.
Mitch
- Mitch is the clumsiest. He was able to fly while spraying a hot glue gun.
- Mitch only communicates by grunting like Frankenstein’s monster. Luckily, Vlad and Nicolai can understand what he says.
The Only Bad Qualities
Overall
- In their first appearance, they serve as one dimensional enemies to Puffy AmiYumi.
- Their cameo appearance in Puffy B.C. can be come out of nowhere.
Vlad
- In his first appearance, his mouth is a little too detailed. This was fixed in his next appearance.
Trivia
- They became somewhat of a meme due to their in-universe notoriety and comparison to Morbius from the 2022 film.
- They appear as a Boss battle in Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi: The Genie and the Amp.
