Takeru Shiba is the main protagonist of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. He is a young man descended from feudal lords, making him the Red Ranger of the 33rd Sentai, referred to by his vassals and servants as Lord (殿 Tono).
Why He Rocks
- It's nice to have a more serious, aloof Red Ranger, coming off of Juken Sentai Gekiranger and Engine Sentai Go-Onger where they were more loud
- He did act as a loner at the beginning, but you can tell it was because he cared for others and didn't want them being hurt.
- Throughout the show we start to see more and more of his humanity, which gave us many funny and emotional moments.
- He acted as a good leader towards the other Shinkengers, helping them grow as people in many ways.
- His teammates also helped him grow and become less broody, making him not feel like a Gary Stu.
- His rivalry with Juuzou was written perfectly due to the fierce tension, which caused a lot awesome fight scenes.
- Takeru also arguably had the best Red Ranger suit, and his Hyper Form tends to enhance the aesthetics of the primary suits itself.
- He played off of every character he interacted with very well, especially Chiaki Tani/Shinken Green, Genta Umemori/Shinken Gold, and Sosuke Esumi/Go-On Red
The Only Two Bad Qualities
- His american counterpart was a HORRIBLE character
- He was kinda unlikable am episode 2 when he called Kotoha useless
