Kara Danvers (also known as Supergirl and by original Kryptonian name Kara Zor-El) is one of the main characters in the second generation of the DC Super Hero Girls franchise. She is a member of the Super Hero Girls, the daughter of the deceased Alura Zor-El, the adopted daughter of Eliza and Jeremiah Danvers, the cousin of Superman, and a student at Metropolis High School.
Why She Rocks
- She's a very likable hero who she and her friends are willing to stop crime in Metropolis.
- Her voice acting is great, as she was voiced by Nicole Sullivan.
- Her friendship with her friends is wonderful, especially with the rest of the Super Hero Girls, Garth, and her funny friendship with Diana’s mother, Queen Hippolyta.
- Speaking of Garth, their friendship is wonderful, as he appreciates and likes her kindness and funny attitude. He even gave up his dream to win a Maximum Assault Mech X toy robot battle championship, when he found out his teammate, Winslow, was cheating and exposed him, much to Kara’s satisfaction of seeing Garth do the right thing.
- Her lazy, gluttonous and bad girl attitude is very charming and hilarious, especially when she's seen rocking out to music.
- While not the smartest, she does learn some lessons in the show, like thinking first before acting, and working with your team.
- She has a sad and sympathetic backstory about how she lost her mother, after her mother put her in an escape pod to safely flee their crumbling planet, sacrificing herself to save her. Kara was then adopted by the Danvers upon arriving on Earth.
- She's willing to help others and give them another chance, such as in "#WhySoBlue?", where she gave the Blue Beetle another chance to be a hero as long as he trains.
- She also knows and admits when she has flaws, like when she admits her weakness to magic and kryptonite, and that her anger issues and overconfidence will often prevent her from thinking straight leading weaker yet more cunning villains like Catwoman to outsmart her, and she learns from those to make her a better person and superhero.
- She helps others accept who she is, like how she tells Jessica that she needs to be okay with the fact that she can't always manage her anger, and that she can manage it on her own.
- Her character design is cute.
- She has a lot of funny and iconic moments in the series.
- In fact, she’s not only a good reboot of Supergirl (from the first incarnation of DC SHG) done right, she’s also basically Beast Boy form Teen Titans GO! done right. Both characters are wacky superhero comedy protagonists, but Supergirl is far more likable, has more action scenes, and has a cuter character design.
- Speaking of Beast Boy from TTG!, she has a good friendship with him in "Superhero Fued" and "Space House".
Bad Qualities
- Her laziness, gluttony and anger can be annoying sometimes.
- She normally acts before she thinks, but that has thankfully decreased in later episodes.
- She sometimes can be unlikable at times and/or have episodes that show her at her worst such as #CrushingIt and #Scrambled Eggs where she and Harley became Get the Hock Out characterization of Buddy and Darnell wannabes who try to steal other team's eggs so that they can avoid going to summer school just like how the latter two steal stuff from other people so that they can get their stuff back from Big Tex.
Trivia
- She is the only member of the group to be an orphan and has foster parents.
