Spyro the Dragon is the titular main protagonist of the Spyro series. As told in an interview with Sparx by the DNN (Dragon News Network), some details of Spyro's past are known and verifiable. Sparx used to crawl around Spyro's egg when he was a larvae, when there was peace in the Dragon Realms. Spyro is, in fact, an Artisan Dragon and may have been born in Stone Hill, as the ending cut scene are both set in Stone Hill.
Why He's All Fired Up!
- Spyro is known for being courageous, headstrong, and eager on his adventures. He also carries and friendly and fiery personality.
- He's always has goals that he want to complete such as only caring about defeating Gnasty Gnorc who is the main antagonist in the first game.
- Throughout the games, he started to become less cocky and more levelheaded as seen in newer games. Surprisingly enough Spyro's personality in Spyro Reignited Trilogy depicts Spyro a more mature and friendly persona.
- He has help many friends on his adventures such as how he managed to help various characters to prevent any predicament for any level Spyro gets in as present in some games like Spyro: Ripto's Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Even if it means sacrificing some gems in order to save Sheilia the Kangaroo, Sgt. James Byrd the Penguin, Bentley the Yeti, and Agent 9 the Monkey.
- Although he's rather boastful and snarky and can come off as rather disinterested in learning things that don't involve kicking butt, the credits of Spyro Reignited Trilogy show that he's still rather decent at various arts like acting to put on a play with a fellow Artisan and being able to make a rather on point sculpture of himself out of marble.
- In the first game, he acts a bit of a brat, but he cares about doing the right thing on the inside of his heart. Keep in mind that this is downplayed in Reignited Trilogy.
- He often listens to the Elder Dragons on some tips like learning how Sparx can help Spyro out on his adventures regardless if he cocky in the original game or the more mature type in the Reignited Trilogy.
- The Elder Dragons are not the only ones, Spyro also listens to Hunter's instructions like some basic tasks.
- His design as seen in the original series tends to be adorable as noticed by some gamers. Even if Spyro get's a drastic change in appearance, he's still the hero after all.
- Even though Spyro has gone through some incarnations, he manages to still be likable and improve a little like when he is more serious in The Legend of Spyro or being a natural leader in Skylanders. No matter what version it is, he can still be likable.
- In The Legend of Spyro series, he always wanting to learn and grow. Basically, the more you learn!
- Same can apply to his Skylanders incarnation when he is a quick learner and can master new abilities. Because of this unique trait, he is convinced that he can be good at everything so he can put his new powers to good use to help defend Skylands.
- In Skylanders, he holds a photographic memory which gifts him encyclopedic knowledge of all the islands and creatures in Skylands he encountered, more so than any other Skylander.
- He took a Level in kindness in the Reigned Trilogy. As he showed more respect toward the elder dragons and his first direct meeting with Lora was much friendlier.
Bad Qualities
- He has little concern for his safety and can be irresponsible at times, being extremely curious and hardly ever cautious, which could get him into trouble.
- Spyro gets into lots of mischief and is known to be cocky, a trait that can lead to his downfall and blunder.
- He was bratty in the first game. This may be expected, however, since he was very young.
- In Spyro: A Hero's Tail, he has become much more arrogant, and in more later outings, has denied help to those who did not expressly indicate that they would award him. Though he still saves the world.
- In The Legend of Spyro, he can sometimes be reckless and adolescent. Not to mention that this incarnation of Spyro disobeyed the Chronicler's advice to hide and fight later.
- In Skylanders, Spyro isn't accustomed to not learning new abilities right away despite being trained by Master Eon as seen in Spyro versus The Mega Monsters.
