Sonic the Hedgehog (ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ Sonikku za Hejjihoggu) is the video game company Sega's mascot (and also their current and longest-reigning mascot, succeeding Sega's previous mascot, Alex Kidd) and the titular main protagonist of the video game series he is named after.

He is a blue, anthropomorphic hedgehog with plenty of attitude and personality who lives up to his name by being able to run at supersonic speeds. In the movie franchise, he is an anthropomorphic hedgehog who is the son of Longclaw with a lot of power who has a unique blue running speed, until he disobeys Longclaw (she does not want Sonic to reveal his power), Pachacamac and the Echidnas attempt to kill Longclaw and Sonic, where Longclaw decides to open a giant yellow circle thing that can take a person from one place to another, a Ring, to Green Hills, Montana. He, 10 years later, lives in Green Hills, lives in a cave named the Hedgehog Cave, observes people around Green Hills, especially a Green Hills officer man named Tom Wachowski (whom he names Donut Lord, thanks to his talk about donuts and interests about donuts and his wife named Maddie Wachowski (whom he names Pretzel Lady, thanks to her yoga flexibility), he runs around a vacant baseball field and he is sad and he accidentally runs around the baseball field, and his energy accidently lets out and causes a power outage across the entire Pacific Northwest. The commander of the United States Armed Forces in the Pentagon, Commander Walters decides to get a villain who wants to rule Earth named Doctor Robotnik to discover the cause, which leads to Dr. Robotnik trying to steal Sonic's power to take over the world. Tom Wachowski. He gets powered up and takes down Dr. Eggman, with Tom Wachowski running and throwing a Ring (and) Sonic runs into the Egg Mobile, thus causing the Egg Mobile and Dr. Eggman to be sent to the Mushroom Planet. In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, he has adjusted to life on Earth and meets Miles "Tails" Prower. In Sonic the Hedgehog 3, he will face-off against Shadow the Hedgehog. He is also motion-captured and voiced by Ben Schwartz, and he is voiced by [[:w:.

    Why He's Speeds

    1. He is a great incarnation of Sonic the Hedgehog. He is also very faithful to Sonic the Hedgehog's game counterpart and his other counterparts.
    2. Similar to his game counterpart, he has many cool quotes, thanks to the writing of the Sonic the Hedgehog writers, thanks to them writing Sonic's quotes, including the following you will read on this page:
      • "So, I know what you're thinking."
      • "Why is that incredibly handsome hedgehog being chased by a madman with a mustache from the Civil War?"
      • "Well, to be honest, it feels like I've been running my whole life."
      • "Is this too much?"

      • "It had everything."

      • "I know, pretty sweet island, right?"
      • "Yeah!"

      • "Ouch, ouch, ouch."
      • "There is one person in town who's actually onto me."
      • "He calls me the Blue Devil!"
      • "Say hello to Crazy Carl."
      • "We have fun together."
      • "Uh, meow."
    3. He's one of the best, most memorable, interesting, and coolest incarnations of Sonic. He also stands out from mainstream counterpart a lot, and is pretty distinctive from his game counterpart. It also helps with the fact that the writers of the Sonic the Hedgehog movies and the Sonic the Hedgehog in the Paramount Pictures universe are huge fans of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise in general. It also helps with the fact that Jeff Fowler, who previously animated cutscenes of a black hedgehog with red on his character named Shadow the Hedgehog (who first made his appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and is set to have a major bigger and massive role in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 [1]) who is a Sega self-titled game of the same name which was unfortunately not well-received for the most part animated the CGI-animated cutscenes of the game named Shadow the Hedgehog, and the CGI-animated cutscenes in the Shadow the Hedgehog are fun to watch (despite the game being average or bad for a lot of people, especially with long-time fans of the Sonic the Hedgehog series since 1991 which is the very first game in the Sega Sonic the Hedgehog series of the same name, thanks to it being well-animated by Blur Studio and somewhat blends into the story of the game that is also truely named Shadow the Hedgehog which was also released in 2005 (also would also later be the animation company for the Paramount Pictures' Sonic the Hedgehog live-action/CGI-animation film series, all thanks to Keith Palmer, Shun Miyanaga, Takashi Iizuka.
    4. He cares about the people on Earth and in Green Hills, especially with his late mother Longclaw, his adopted Pretzel Lady Maddie, his adopted father Donut Lord Tom, the old crazy man who is Crazy Carl, Jojo, Tom Wachowski's human friend sheriff named Wade Whipple, Rachell, Commander Walters, his best buddy Tails, and a "character who is not a space porcupine named Knuckles". Especially with these examples that have to do things with Sonic.
    5. He makes many easter eggs to the franchise, which are nods to the Sonic the Hedgehog games, and most fans might notice them, which is pretty great and can even be seen as nostalgic, and this is saying a lot.
    6. He can be seen as pretty relatable, especially if you're a human and a person who lost a family member at a young age and has been living his/her entire life on Earth in a city as a loner.
    7. In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, he has excellent character developement, thanks to writers Patrick Casey (who is a childhood friend of fellow writer Josh Miller and also loves Sonic the Hedgehog), and Josh Whittington, and the Patrick Casey, Josh Miller, and Josh Whittington all wrote Sonic the Hedgehog 2 as writers together. Sonic's newfound devotion to protecting others also indeed opened his eyes to the superhero lifestyle, which he has gained a taste for due to the excitement it provides. As such, he also strives toward becoming a hero in his own right, which is exemplified in the superhero nicknames he comes up for himself. While he also sees his heroics as chances to get some thrills in his otherwise peaceful lifestyle (including that one hilariously funny great scene where he tries to stop a robbery in the beginning of the movie only for him to crash and the Criminal tells him he is a terrible hero, and Sonic was being a so called [[mh:loathsomecharacters:Category:"Heroes"|"hero"]]), Sonic is nonetheless motivated by a strong desire to use his powers for good and help people out with them. However, his then-inexperience as a hero also prompts him to act rather reckless and rush into chances to prove himself without an actual plan in mind. His relationship with Tom Wachowski also evolved from a friendship to a form of son-and-father relationship, with his adopted father Tom Wachowski trying to be a supportive presence to Sonic by reminding him that the time will eventually come for him to use the incredible powers he possesses but is not allowed to use in public.
    8. There is a lot of heartwarming scenes of this incarnation of Sonic in these media, including the following and:
    9. His visual effects are pretty expressive, and as of the second film, his visual effects and animation look like they came out of a The Walt Disney Company / Pixar film, all thanks to Moving Picture Company (MFC), Moving Picture Company, Marza Animation Planet, Blur Studio, Trixter (not to be confused with the music band of the same name, and Digital Domain, PixStone Images Pvt Ltd, and DNEG. His character movements in the franchise, thanks to the animators as of the second movie, are pretty fluid, which is great. The flashback scene of Sonic in Green Hill Zone and all of his running scenes are also impressive to look at.
    10. He has a tragic, emotional, and relatable backstory, similar to other heroes on this wiki. He had a late owl mother named Longclaw, but his house got attacked by Echidnas and Longclaw was killed off-screen (seeing as it would way too disturbing for a kids movie if it happened on-screen), and Longclaw said goodbye to the young Sonic and he tried to run back through the Ring, but it faded away before he had a chance to go back into it. It also left him as an orphan in Green Hills for ten years, probably from 2010-2020.
    11. Ben Schwartz is hilarious, endearing, and pretty even good as Sonic, his voice is also pretty great as well too indeed, and he even manages to have and capture the charm of the original voice actors of Sonic, and he even manages to have and capture the charm of the original voice actors of Sonic, Takeshi Kusao, Jaleel White, Meg Inglima, Masato Nishimura, Masami Kikuchi, Jun'ichi Kanemaru, Ryan Drummond, Jason Griffith, Ben Schwartz, Benjamin L. Valic, Tim Robinson, Shinji Kawada, and Deven Mack.
      • Benjamin L. Valic also does a great and an adorable job voicing young Sonic in the first Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and he even reprises his role in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 via archive recordings, and it's great to hear Benjamin L. Valic as Young Sonic again, via archive recordings.
    12. Similar to his video game counterpart, he has awesome powers that will most likely also be seen as great, such as the fact that he has the ability to run at a massive super speed, even faster than the humans in the Sonic the Hedgehog universe and humans in real-life. He also manages to outrun Dr. Eggman in both of his movies. He can also dodge multiple things, especially with Dr. Robotnik's attempts to defeat and kill him. His super speed is also blue, and even has a blue color that is close to his super speed blue color scheme from the games. Miles "Tails" Prower also knows about Sonic's super speed, and he has seen Sonic's super speed before. Tom Wachowski and Maddie Wachowski have also seen Sonic's super speed before, and even Crazy Carl, the crazy fictional old man.
    13. He has so many things stuff from the games (as he is a faithful version of Sonic which is actually saying a lot) which are very cool and great to see, especially if your a Sonic the Hedgehog fan and love the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, including:
      • Rings: They are a yellow object shaped in a circle that a character and/or person can travel into, and if the person throws a Ring, it becomes big and the person can go through the Ring while it gets smaller and goes away.
      • His bag: It is filled up with a map that has seven islands (that resemble maps from the franchise), and especially that bag has a hologram of Longclaw telling Sonic about the Chaos Emeralds.
    14. One of the greatest things about his character and that why he became so iconic and well-known and his first film, Sonic the Hedgehog became such a big hit at the box office is that following the mostly mixed-to-negative reception of the first trailer of Sonic the Hedgehog, the film was made with genuine passion and it is evident that Paramount Pictures and the director named Jeff Fowler care about the fans of Sonic the Hedgehog who grew up with the games and other media and respects the intelligence (the film's main target audience) rather than pandering and insulting them.
      • On that note, one of the best things about his character and his great design is that after the original backlash from the original trailer that was released on the day of April 30, 2019, Paramount Pictures, the company that makes the Sonic the Hedgehog movies (and Jeff Fowler too) decided and announced that they would redesign Sonic. His design is also pretty great and it's a huge improvement over his Sonic Boom design (despite that one design) being great. and is more faithful to his design from the original franchise rather than the design from the first trailer released on April 30, 2019. This then-new design has also his iconic red shoes, gloves, eyes, head, and general body proportions, while still giving a more realistic feel.
      • It's no secret that Tyson Hesse also did all this, and he managed to make the movie incarnation's of Sonic the Hedgehog's design an improvement and pretty great.
    15. Initially and originally, he lived in a cave named the Hedgehog Cave, where no one caught him until white and red inventions caught Sonic in his Hedgehog Cave. He packed and left his things, and a lot of Badniks were in there, with Sonic leaving the Hedgehog Cave. In the end of Sonic the Hedgehog (2020), he also gets to stay with Tom and Maddie. Tom and Maddie moved all of Sonic's things from the Hedgehog Cave to the Wachowski's house basement (albeit, if you are reading this, they moved all of Sonic's stuff off-screen). Sonic also enjoys life in the Wachowski's house basement, especially since he has comic-book comics and Sonic's phone (yes you are reading this right, Sonic has a phone as stated in this sentence that is written on this page).
    16. All of the battle scenes and fights with this version of Sonic are pure awesome and fun to watch (most fans love the battle scenes of the movies), and most viewers and audiences find them awesome:
      • The scene in a massive city with a massive big red bridge named the Golden Gate Bridge in the United States of America where a lot of humans, people, and animals go to named San Francisco (though, however, this is a fictional version of San Francisco that is only and repeat only in the Paramount Pictures that is not repeat and not an original adaption since it is an adaption of the games with and repeat with with it not-original movie series named Sonic the Hedgehog franchise that is truely the movies by Paramount Pictures, woah from another retroly super cool amazing fun perfect awesome nostalgic to critics awesome game that started in 1998 gaming cooly franchise, this writing is going on for a long time and this is not the so-called "off-topic stuff that we're looking for. Sonic, first being introduced in the 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog movie, is running away from a object, his blue speed is showing off, where he stops running, and breaks the fourth wall. He clearly wants the audience (who's watching the movie, by the way, Sonic will get back on track after a break, but he'll make you eat those words, but Sonic would get framed and getting arrested because of G.U.N. thinking stupidity that Sonic was Shadow, while in the Sonic the Hedgehog incredible universe, Sonic and Shadow are two different respective hedgehogs, while Shadow the Hedgehog was created by a late old man scientist named Gerald Robotnik, and Shadow has eldely trauma), to know who he is. Additionally and also, he starts the movie from the beginning.
    17. He is a wisecracker, childish, and loves cracking pop-culture references (especially to humans, people, and celebrities), which makes him stand out from his video game counterpart in a good way.

    Bad Qualities

    1. He infamously flosses in a promotional material thing for the first film, which is seen as a failed attempt to be hip and cool with the kids and the 2020s teenagers. Even to the point, where it actually made a few and some Sonic the Hedgehog fans angry.
