    Scarlett (Total Drama: Pahkitew Island)

    Scarlett
    "I! AM! EVIL! (evil laughter)"
    Gender: Female
Type: Truly Evil, but Charming Genius
The Taylor Swift and Carola Merkelfrumkem of Total Drama
Age: 16 (Total Drama: Pahkitew Island)
    Species: Human
    Portrayed by: Kristi Friday
    Status: Alive
    Media of origin: Total Drama

Scarlett was a contestant and one of two main antagonists of Total Drama: Pahkitew Island as a member of the Pimâpotew Kinosewak.

    Personality

Scarlett is a highly intelligent individual, with a quiet, yet enigmatic behavior. When she does speak, she tends to transcend into being very talkative. Her extensive and advanced vocabulary has a habit of confusing her teammates, and she is usually required to simplify her suggestions, much to her chagrin. Although she has an initially polite exterior, Scarlett's true nature is actually evil (even to her own family), psychopathic, misanthropic, savage, unsympathetic, vain, sadistic, and quite wicked, so much so that she has gone as far as threatening to kill and torture the other contestants and destroy the island for the million dollars, even launching tree missiles to the hosts to prove she is not joking. She has been shown to be very crafty and can easily manipulate other people with her superior brain power. This is best displayed through her relationship with Max, whom she uses to carry out various "evil" deeds (most of which she suggests) in order to cover her true nature while Max takes the blame. Scarlett is very annoyed by Max's ways and despises him referring to her as his "sidekick," showing that she is against being second place to anyone.

Why She is Not Max's Sidekick and Never Will Be

    1. She's one of the Pahkitew Island contestants that were actually likable.
    2. She was a pretty smart person, making the inventions Max and herself used throughout her appearances.
    3. She manages to stay calm most of the time, even against her more annoying teammates, which were Amy, Rodney, and Topher.
    4. She managed to be a good friend to Sammy, Jasmine and Sky (after the swap) before the merge and work together with them pretty well. She also knew that Sammy was pretending to be Amy the entire time but didn’t expose her.
    5. She kept her cool when dealing with Max, even if she was starting to get annoyed with him, she didn't reveal her true colors until the moment was right.
    6. She's one of the good members of her team:
      • In "So, Uh This Is My Team?", she helped her team build their shelter during the challenge.
      • In "I Love You, Grease Pig!" she leaves a trail of pecans to get her team’s pig through the grease tires during the challenge. She also completes the evil helmet which Max uses to have the pig slow down the other team by throwing grease at them.
      • In "Twinning Isn't Everything", she gave Max the suggestion of using a dart blower to blow darts onto the other team’s balloons, which he did to Sky’s.
      • In "I Love You, I Love You Knots", she beautified a bear which got her team a point during the Truth or Scare challenge.
      • In "A Blast from the Past", during the challenge, she gave Max the suggestion of an electricity dueling stick, which she helped him out with to shock Ella and get their team a dueling stick. Then, she herself got her team a dueling stick.
      • In "Mo Monkey Mo Problems", she gave her team the idea of playing monkey see, monkey do, to find the monkey with her team’s coin, while also setting up Max to eliminate him if her team loses, which would have worked if not for Sugar calling Ella out on breaking Chris’ no singing rule.
      • In "This Is the Pits!", she led Max out of the cave by building a device which opens all garage doors, which opened an elevator.
      • In "Three Zones and a Baby", she kept her team’s babies safe, piggyback rode on Jasmine to scare the Lion and made him go away.
    7. She was one of the likable players to make it to the merge and stay a good character (unlike Dave and Sky, who both got flanderized).
    8. She stayed pretty strong after the merge:
      • In "Hurl and Go Seek", she still kept cool while with Max, getting food poisoning and caught in the rain. She also found out the island is artificial, seen when she found a control panel hidden in a tree.
      • In "Scarlett Fever", she and Max quickly found the control room, and with his help they got in.
    9. Her evilness was foreshowed in her audition tape when an Earth ball with knives stabbed into it was shown in her room, as well as her growing hatred for Max and her scaring Topher in "Three Zones and a Baby".
    10. She showed her true evil colors in "Scarlett Fever" when she got to the control room, got Max chased by a robot bear and led the others to the Chris robots room, where she planned to get Chris to hand over the money or the island explodes. Her evil personality was handled well.
    11. Her character design is good, before and after she revealed she was evil.
    12. Kristi Friday did an awesome job voicing her, especially her evil cackle after revealing her true colors.
    13. The scene where she shows her true colors. ENOUGH SAID!

    Bad Qualities

    1. She can be a motor mouth at times, specifically in the episode "Mo Monkey, Mo Problems" when she was explaining her plan to her teammates, but her advanced and extensive vocabulary only confused her teammates, and much to her charging, she is forced to simplify her suggestions.
    2. She revealed in the episode "This is the Pits!", that she made her brother’s remote control toys come to life and attack him in the night for 6 years, which sent him to therapy, all because he pulled her hair once. This shows she likes to torment her brother, even for one little bad thing he did, because this was going too far. At least Sammy gave Amy her comeuppance for all the bad things she did to her, while Scarlett’s brother didn't even get a chance to get her sister in trouble for what she did to him. Although Scarlett being defeated by the others in "Scarlett Fever", where she revealed she was evil, could be considered her comeuppance for what she did to her brother.
    3. She unfortunately did not return in the finale, which was a wasted opportunity as she could have teamed up with Shawn or Sky to get revenge on Chris and punish him for torturing her and the other contestants throughout the season, although this is understandable as she planned to blow up Pahkitew Island and in turn, end the season prematurely.

    Trivia

    • Scarlett is one of the few contestants who wears glasses, with the others being Harold, Beth, Cameron, Sam, Ellody, Mary, Miles, and Tom.
      • Scarlett is the only member of the third generation cast to wear glasses.
      • Scarlett is one of three contestants to wear glasses who don't have dotted eyes, the others being Cameron and Ellody. However, this is likely because Scarlett does not need her glasses to see, as shown in Scarlett Fever.
      • Scarlett is the only contestant to wear glasses whose eye color is not black.
    • Scarlett is one of several characters who possess more than one main design, with her regular design, and her Evil Scarlett form. Other characters include Geoff, Heather, Ezekiel, Mike, Dakota, Sierra, Zoey, Lightning, and Chef Hatchet.
      • Scarlett is the only member of the Pahkitew Island cast to go through a radical change in hair design.
    • Scarlett is the only female character of the third generation that doesn't have black or blonde hair as she is a redhead.
    • Scarlett is one of a few characters to have their name referenced in an episode title ("Scarlett Fever"), the others being Harold, Owen, Courtney, Bridgette, Chef Hatchet, Chris, Ezekiel, and Sky.

    • Scarlett and Jasmine are the only contestants to have known about Sammy's plan to pretend to be Amy up until the former's elimination.
    • Prior to "Scarlett Fever", Scarlett showed several signs that foreshadow her true nature:
      • In her audition tape, there is a globe with several knives embedded into it at the back of her room.
      • She takes interest in helping Max with his "evil" schemes.
      • She encourages Max to cheat by electrifying his jousting stick in "A Blast from the Past". She also twitches when Max calls her his "sidekick" before letting it out in the confessional.
      • In "This Is the Pits!", she reveals that she programmed her brother's toys to attack him every night for six years as payback for pulling her hair. This traumatized her brother so much that he is still in therapy.
      • In "Three Zones and a Baby", she gives Topher a deadly look to make him focus on the game.
    • Fresh TV's now defunct re:Fresh blogs once referred to Scarlett as "a female version Cameron", but without a bubble.
    • According to Terry McGurrin and Christine Thompson, Scarlett could possibly come back in a future Total Drama season, despite her actions in Scarlett Fever.
    • According to Terry McGurrin, Scarlett's sexual orientation was never discussed in the writing room for Total Drama: Pahkitew Island.
