Media of origin: Ryan Defrates: Secret Agent

Ryan Defrates is the titular character of Ryan Defrates: Secret Agent. He is the son of Deb Defrates and an unnamed father. He works for Freedom International as one of its secret agents. He is one of the many well-written characters in Christian media, as an unpopular character in comparison to Bob and Larry from VeggieTales.

Why He is a Good Secret Agent

    1. His overall appearance and design does represent a secret agent that is unique to him.
      • His hair is short, but long enough to lean on him like a cool sport.
      • He wears a normal green shirt, but it's mostly covered by a brown coat with a long collar.
      • To go with the shirt and coat, he also wears a slightly tan pair of pants with a belt and grey shoes.
      • He wears an interesting watch that the agency gave him, which is used for calling via video chat with Mr. Bradburn and Pix, and as a grappling hook with wire to get him out in any sticky situations that feature objects that it can grab on above.
      • His car has a cool and possibly original design.
      • Basically, he looks like a normal person that no one would suspect to be a secret agent, as it is proven when he shows his mom the job he works in for the first time in "The Exploding Hot Sauce".
    2. He's smart and clever...
      • When he starts to see people playing on their phones and sees that they don't pay attention to him and hears and sees them mooing in Mega-moo and the Grumpy Ducks. He thinks on what Gigahert may be planning, and gets it right straight.
      • In the same episode, he uses Pix's fog bombs to reveal Gigahert's hidden security laser system.
    3. Most of his emotional moments do tend to relatable...
      • Him getting stressed in "The Undercover Queen", because of his role as the parade organizer as suggested by his mother, while dealing with the main mission itself.
      • When he got mad at his piano teacher; Amy Ping, also the villain; Crescendo in "The Robot Recital". When he finds out that she was using him for her own selfish personal benefits. This is shown when she states to him, "Remember, if you can't play perfectly, you don't deserve to play at all." This gives him low self-esteem to play for her because of the pressure. He was also mad at her when she says that her robotic instruments (which she stole) are better at performing than him. Further saying that she abandoned him during the whole time, saying it in front of his mother, Pix and a whole audience of people. This understandably makes him infuriated, since she embarrassed him in public, along with lying.
    4. Speaking of which, he is also pretty sympathetic...
      • He lost his father in a plane accident, which is stated in "The Three Ring Disaster".
    5. He cares for his mother deeply.
      • He eagerly fights off his fear of clowns to save her from Kackle's Cupcake Crusher in "The Courageous Scaredy Cat".
    6. His name; Defrates, is a nice choice for him as it's rare for characters to use names that aren't used that often.
    7. He always learns a lesson or two (depending on the episode), in all of the episodes of the series, as he always apologizes for his bad actions.
    8. Chris Burnett does voice him well, as he does sound like Sonic the Hedgehog.

    His Public Mistakes

    1. He can come off as immature is few of the episodes.
    2. He tends to be treated like a butt-monkey in some situations, even his own intro.
