Roy is one of the main characters of the Fire Emblem franchise. He first appears in Super Smash Bros. Melee and then appeared in the Fire Emblem series ever since the Binding Blade.
Why He Rocks
When his father became seriously ill, Roy took of the leadership of the Pherae troops, becoming the Lord of the region as well.
After Pherae was attacked by bandits, Roy managed to stop them and save Eliwood and Hector's daughter Lilina. It's this act that he becomes the Leader of the Lycian army. Roy also took an oath to protect Lilinia after Hector's death in Chapter 3.
The sword Roy uses, the Sword of Seals/The Binding Blade, has a random chance of a critical hit with the use of fire, which is a really powerful attack. Plus, only Roy himself can use it.
The weakened King Mordred entrusted Roy with the Etrurian army, which is also composed of Cecillia, Perceval, and Klein. He also became the commander after Etruria formed an alliance with Lycia.
Roy was first introduced in the Smash Bros series in Super Smash Bros. Melee, along with Marth. This appearance of theirs is what brought the Fire Emblem series to the West.
Speaking of which, he is super great in Smash, most notably due to his strong Neutral Special, which is super powerful, especially at max charge.
After encountering a dying Hector in Araphen, Roy decided to go on a journey to save the continent Elibe from a Dragon and Human war. He also learned to befriend dragons as well.
He has an awesome design. He is later gaven a new design in later appearances which is 10 times better, and it even stays faithful to his original design.
Bad Qualities
For some reason, he appeared in the Smash series first despite being a Fire Emblem character. (This was also done with Corrin in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U.)
Even though Roy is strong in Smash, in his own game, he is a struggling soldier because of his poor mobility.
Roy is kind of not an interesting character. But hey, that dosen't mean he is a bad character.
