"THE BURDEN OF HOSPITALITY IS TOO GREAT FOR ROLF!!!!!!!!!"
― Rolf's quote from the episode "Rambling Ed"

Rolf is one of the main characters of the Cartoon Network series Ed, Edd n Eddy. He is a young farmer boy, who is one of the bravest kids in the Cul-de-Sac.

    Background

Rolf is an immigrant from a far and distant culture known to us only as The Old Country. The most evidence was shown in "No Speak Da Ed." There, it was revealed that he is familiar with a trickster named Gerta who lives in Norway. During flashbacks in that episode, he is seen being chased by a person in a wolf costume. Rolf works on his parents' small farm within the Cul-de-Sac and leads a scouting group called the Urban Rangers; a Boy Scout-like group consisting of Jimmy, Plank, and Jonny. Rolf often refers to himself in third person, as well as being the "son of a shepherd," in which he takes great pride. He hardly minds the Eds unless they make a fool out of him or insult his culture, after which he is not afraid to use brute force. When his superhuman strength is unleashed, it rivals Ed's; however, it should be considered that he is the second strongest character in the show, since he was seen lifting a tree with difficulty while Ed can lift a house single handed. Regardless, Rolf's strength depends on his mood rather than his biology.

Why He's the Son of a Shepherd and Deserves Jujubes and Jawbreakers

    1. He's known for being one of the kids from the Old Country, being a smart and skillful farm kid, which helps out in some situations.
    2. He's a great friend to many of the kids in the Cul-de-Sac, to the point where he's even a friend to the Eds at times.
      • One example of Rolf siding with the Eds is in "Will Work for Ed," when he trusted Ed of all people to watch over his animals!
    3. He isn't afraid to face the Eds whenever they (namely Eddy) do something immoral.
    4. He's a great leader to his friends, namely the Urban Rangers, as he leads them to be friendly and help others in the Cul-de-Sac.
    5. His strength is impressive, being one of the most physically strongest character in the show, as he can lift a tree, despite it being hard for him.
      • In fact, he's so strong that he even rivals Ed in terms of both strength and height.
    6. His relationship with Kevin is quite nice, and often humorous.
    7. He's one of the bravest characters in the show, as he's willing to go on a long and dangerous adventure (as seen when he went on the journey to find and beat up the Eds in the Big Picture Show).
      • He also proved himself to be more resilient than Eddy when he challenged Rolf to obtain the toughest badge of the Urban Rangers.
    8. He's a good owner to many of his pets.
    9. He has a good character design.
    10. While he was understandably mad at the Eds for what their last scheme did to him in Ed Edd n Eddy's Big Picture Show, in the end, he finally saw the truth once he meets Eddy’s older brother, Rolf forgives them and befriends the Eds for good, especially Eddy after he reveals his true shy and kind nature.
    11. Like Ed, he has some of the best one-liners in the show.
      • With that said, he has some clever use of his quirky dialogue in the show.
    12. He is the star of most Ed Edd n Eddy memes.
    13. "Confess to your crimes, stale end piece of white bread!"

Qualities That Belong to Anyone but the Son of a Shepherd and Deserve Filthy Animals

    1. Sometimes, he isn't always nice to his pets. For example, in the Big Picture Show, Rolf was mean to Wilfred, his pet pig, when he was being lazy and doing his own thing during his journey to find the Eds.
    2. Sometimes, his punishments towards the Eds, while always justified, can be taken too far, like when he trapped Ed in a weird and creepy underground lair.
    3. Like everyone else in the show (except Sarah and the Kanker Sisters), he's a butt-monkey, and the thing is, he hardly ever deserves it.
