Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic, is one of the main protagonists of the Tim Story Fantastic Four film series.
Why He Is Fantastic
- Ioan Gruffudd was well-cast for the role, as he looks just like the character from the comics.
- He and Sue have a healthy relationship and eventually get married.
- Most of the time, Reed frequently takes notes so he can study.
- His Baxter Building is so lifelike.
- In the second film and video games, he is more productive.
- His speech to General Hager is a clever recreation of the Fantastic Four comic “Ultimate Destruction”.
- His costume is very comic book accurate.
- Some of his lines are memorable including “I’m one of the greatest minds of the 21st century” and “We need a massive amount of evidence before making that leap”.
- He had some funny moments, particularly around Johnny.
Bad Qualities
- In the first film, he believed his powers are a disease. Luckily, Johnny helps him understand it is a bad idea.
- His stretching looks cartoony with obvious CGI.
- In the second film, he is more focused on his wedding, rather than saving Earth from Silver Surfer/Galactus/Doom.
Trivia
- Gruffudd returned to voice Mr. Fantastic in the 2005 Fantastic Four video game.
