Razputin "Raz" Aquato is the main protagonist of the Psychonauts series. He was formerly a circus performer before running away to Whispering Rock Psychic Summer Camp to become a Psychonaut.

Why He Deserves To Become a Psychonaut

    1. He is an incredibly compassionate and caring person for his age. He displays great will to assist any mind he enters and is very empathetic and reassuring to his patients, always encouraging them that they can improve themselves and fully heal their mental turmoil. Though he has his limits and can become snarky at times, which is rather endearing and funny.
    2. He has a strong will to become a Psychonaut and help others, as he fights through the adversity of being psychic and believes that Psychonauts are still needed in the world.
    3. His design is very iconic and endearing, with his signature goggles and cap alongside his signature turtleneck, jeans and jacket. And his warm yellow skin, velvet red hair and large green eyes make him look rather handsome and adorable.
    4. He is an incredibly prodigious psychic for his age, and became so powerful in only three days. Even experienced psychics like Milla Vodello and Sasha Nein were pleasantly surprised by his progress.
      • It payed off too, as at the end of the first game he becomes a Psychonaut. And despite his title being retconned in the second game, he still managed to graduate the Psychonauts' internship program and become a Junior Psychonaut.
    5. He is very charismatic and has great chemistry with the rest of the cast
      • He gets along greatly with his teachers, Sasha Nein and Milla Vodello. As they start off doubtful on Raz's abilities, but begin to see how truly gifted he is and accept him as one of their own.
      • He also earns the respect of Hollis Forsythe, from learning his mistakes of messing with her mental connections and strives to become more empathetic and responsible.
      • While Raz starts off loathing his father, due to the latter's prejudice of psychics being mistaken for hatred of his son. He later reconciles with his father and both learn to communicate more clearly and their bond becomes closer than ever.
    6. Speaking of relationships, his relationship with Lili Zanotto is adorable. As he is very caring and reassuring towards her and she is right back. Despite her aloof attitude when first meeting him, Raz never acts hostile towards her and remains cordial with her.
      • In the first game, their relationship starts off slow, as Raz views Lili nothing more than an acquaintance and Lili hides her romantic feelings through an apathetic attitude. Eventually their relationship develops into becoming friends, and Lili desires for Raz grow stronger. When Lili becomes kidnapped, Raz's first thoughts are to rescue her, proving how much he loves Lili.
      • And his kiss with Lili at the end of the first game is very touching and adorable.
    7. His passion for the Psychonauts is adorable and admirable, as he is shown to be very hard-working to improve his powers and achieve his dream of becoming a fully-fledged Psychonaut.
    8. He has many strong and unique abilities, such as PSI-Blast, Pyrokinesis and more.

    Bad Qualities

    1. He could be very insensitive and mean at times, especially in the first game when he insulted Boyd multiple times in his mind.
    2. He sometimes causes problems in people's minds, such as indirectly releasing The Milkman or giving Hollis a gambling addiction (to be fair, the Interns pressured him to do the latter).
    3. His design in the first game can be unappealing to some.
    4. He can be very gullible at times, such as falling for the interns' trick to give him new clothes.
