    Randall "Randy" Cunningham
"I was chosen to protect my school from the forces of evil. I am the Ninja. I am Randy Cunningham!"
    Gender: Male
    Age: 14-15
    Species: Human
    Portrayed by: Ben Schwartz
    Status: Alive
Media of origin: Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja

Randy Cunningham is the main protagonist of the Disney XD cartoon Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja. After recieving the Ninja Nomicon and mask, he discovers that he is chosen to be the next ninja of Norrisville. While the job is very entertaining for Randy, he still struggles with school and maintaining his relationships. Nevertheless, he strives through his struggles and is determined to be a protector of his hometown.

    Personality

Randy is an average high school kid who tries to fit in with the popular crowd and be cool. There are many times where he engages in dubious acts that could possibly get him into a lot of trouble, like crashing Bash's party, spitting into a volcano, and using the Ninja powers to fix a science project. Often he can get too greedy, and forgets that his actions have consequences which can result in major problems for himself and the people around him, including being a freeloader to Rachel via his Ninja identity, taking advantage of the gravy-train to get perks, or using Levander Hart to exploit Levander's band equipment. As time goes on, though, he realizes when the situation is his fault, and takes responsibility to fix it as much as possible.

He has short attention span and is sometimes lazy. Despite his flawed personality, he has shown that he does focus and work hard in earning his allowance by doing several chores. this determination can also be seen in his gaming ability, as he achieved the top position in the scoreboard in Greg's Game Hole. He is quick-witted in ninja situations, creating techniques, and normal life situations even though he causes larger problems later on. He often jumps to conclusions, not thinking it through, which causes more problems for himself and others. Due to this, he often appears or seems more foolish than he is.

    Why He's Honkin' Bruce!

    1. He is an incredibly effective force of good within his hometown of Norrisville. He's very adaptive in combat and strategizes his attacks based on his enemies weaknesses and strengths.
      • The latter is especially integral, given that most of the monsters he fights that aren't sent by Hannibal McFist are "stanked" (people who's negative emotions had enabled The Sorcerer into transforming them into monsters) that he needs to transform back into humans by destroying the source of what's causing their stanking.
    2. His design, courtesy of Jhonen Vasquez, is very pleasing to the eyes. His civilian design is very calming to the eye, with the dark muted palette, albeit with his bright red and white shirt that stands out. His very casual design helps him look unremarkable which with his status as the ninja is very useful.
      • His ninja design is just as good if not, definitely cool, using the typical black ninja suit, but adding details with the red lines, scarf and sash, which makes it very recognizable and iconic.
    3. He has a very endearing personality, as he is very energetic and being an incredibly compassionate individual who cares about others' feelings, such as making time to hang out with his best friend Howard in-between school and his ninja duties.
      • His compassion is especially notable, given the circumstances of stanking, as he is quick to discover the source of what caused it, displaying his awareness and caring nature.
    4. He is very polite and well-mannered, such as tossing away Howard's trash to prevent him from littering, holding the door for others and formally addressing authority figures.
    5. He is very clever, as he often spots details that would be hard to notice for others and can solve the Ninja Nomicon's riddles with ease (as long as he isn't swayed by Howard's bad judgment).
    6. He is a hard worker and focuses on his work, such as his ninja duties and school work. In fact, he could have great grades if he wasn't so focused on Howard.
    7. He is very quick-witted in adapting within his surroundings.
    8. He has a sweet relationship with his love interest, Theresa Fowler, such as always being friendly to her and never once hitting her when she gets stanked.
      • In fact, when she had gotten stanked by Randy's doppelganger, Randy instantly knew how to console her by buying her a bouquet of roses. This shows that he reciprocates her romantic affection and is incredibly considerate towards her.
    9. He has many iconic quotes, most notable being "What the juice?!"
    10. He grows and develops as the series progresses, such as taking his job as the ninja more seriously after initially believing the job was simply about beating up monsters and looking cool.
    11. He is phenomenally voiced by Ben Schwartz.

    Wonk Qualities

    1. He can be very obnoxious at times, especially when he tries to be cool.
    2. He can be very foolish and dense at times, especially when the Ninjanomicon is trying to teach him a lesson.
    3. He has a toxic relationship with his "best friend" Howard, as he often lets Howard's views cloud his own judgement and allows Howard to treat him like a servant. Fortunately, he progresses out of it as the series goes on.
    4. He was at his worst in "Ninja Fan" such as manipulating Rachel's kindness for his own gain. Thankfully he doesn't act like this in future episodes.
