Christopher Smith, better known as Peacemaker, is the secondary antagonist of The Suicide Squad and the titular main protagonist of Peacemaker.

He is a deranged vigilante who believes in ensuring peace and liberty at all costs no matter how many lives he has to kill or horrible acts he has to commit in order to do so. He joined Task Force X as part of Bloodsport's second team thanks to Amanda Waller offering him a pardon for his crimes if he were to remove all traces of evidence of her involvement with Project Starfish.

    Why He's Called Peacemaker

    1. He is one of DC Universe's coolest and funniest characters ever made.
    2. He is one of the reasons why The Suicide Squad was a great movie.
    3. He is well-groomed with a Heroic Build, acts no-nonsense most of the time, and has a sense of duty, however misguided it may seem.
    4. He wears a shiny metal helmet with a large horizontal fin on it. He considers it a symbol of freedom, though Bloodsport just thinks he looks like he's wearing a metal toilet seat on his head.
    5. His banter with Bloodsport was really fun. Both have virtually the same backstory and overlapping combat skills, something Bloodsport even points out. They have an immediate distaste for each other, and spend most of their time in an extended dick-measuring contest.
      • Also, his draw off with Bloodsport was great, as they simultaneous quick-draw duel with each other and Bloodsport wins by firing small bullets through the center of his .50 AE hollow point in mid-air, shattering it.
    6. He may not look the part, but with the way he expresses his goals and motivation, he ends up establishing himself to be the most deranged and unstable member of the Task Force's B-Team, even making King Shark and Polka-Dot Man look more mentally stable by comparison.
    7. He has achieved peak physical condition in his mission for global peace. He is incredibly strong and tough, as well as sufficiently fast and agile. He claims to put a lot of time into his small muscle groups.
    8. Peacemaker is a phenomenally well-seasoned hand-to-hand combatant, proven during his fight with Rick Flag and later Judomaster.
    9. As demonstrated with the way he kills the resistance fighters, Peacemaker has a violent, bloodthirsty streak.
    10. He is willing to create and keep the peace regardless of how many men, women, and children he has to kill.
    11. He was so popular that he got his own spin-off show, Peacemaker, which was released in 2022, and it is awesome.
    12. He has many funny moments, including when he comments that Aquaman f**ks fish, when calling Batman a pussy for not killing the bad guys and when he tells off the Justice League for being late and calls them dickheads.
    13. He has a pet named Eagly, who he loves unconditionally. Eagly reciprocates that affection with undying loyalty and protectiveness to his owner and they're a cool dynamic duo.
    14. Character development: Following his release from the hospital, he began to reflect on his actions; he notably regrets killing Rick Flag and putting on the façade of a rude, arrogant, misogynistic person in order to push people away to protect his own feelings and reduce the risk, and begins to question the morality of his father's teachings.
      • He is also heavily driven by his desire to gain his father's approval, despite being well aware and even being blatantly told on occasion that his father does not care about him and sees him as pathetic and weak.
      • When White Dragon attempted to kill Peacemaker, he finally snapped and lashed out at his father for all years of abuse and horrible treatment and ultimately he chose to kill his own father, when he did, broke down crying and fully acknowledged all his terrible actions in the past.
    15. He's a jingoist, a backstabber, and an all-around jerk who deserves the ridicule he gets from the other ARGUS agents, but when you see the kind of man his father is, it isn't hard to see how he ended up this way. Not to mention, it turns out he actually hates himself for how he is.
    16. As the series goes on, Peacemaker isn't as much of an antisocial blowhard as he used to be. This is best seen with how well he gets along with Vigilante and Adebayo, when his attitude towards the rest of Task Force X was one of self-importance, at least until they started bonding and discovering new surprising facts about each other.
    17. John Cena gives an incredible performance. It is clear that he is having way too much fun in the role of Peacemaker.

    Bad Qualities

    1. He didn't get too much personality depth in The Suicide Squad. This is understandable as he got his own spin off, where he gets much personality and character development.
    2. He killed Rick Flag when he wanted to expose the U.S.'s involvement in the project, but Peacemaker was given orders from Waller to cover up their involvement. He does show regret upon killing Rick and it shows in his titular show.
    3. He acted like a jerk to Economos, making fun of him and calling him dye-beard, which he takes offense to.

    • In DC Comics, Christopher Smith was a pacifist diplomat so committed to global peace that he takes on the superhero alter ego, Peacemaker, to ensure it by strictly using non-lethal weapons and combat techniques. Although, over time, he started to develop more into a violent vigilante that is willing to make sacrifices for peace.
    • Every weapon Peacemaker uses is engraved or adorned with his "dove of peace", and he believes he can't kill using a weapon without it. He later claims to Harcourt that he doesn't actually care if a "dove of peace" is engraved on the weapon, having used it as an excuse because of his nerves.
