    Patches O’Houlihan is the secondary protagonist of the 2004 Rawson Marshall Thurber film Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. He was played by Rip Torn.

    Why He Throws Wrenches

    1. He teaches the Average Joe’s the Five Ds of Dodgeball: Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and Dodge.
    2. Rip Torn did an amazing job playing Patches. Hank Azaria did a good job playing his young form.
    3. He hilariously throws wrenches in place of dodgeballs most of the time.
    4. He helped convince Gordon to get angry during some dodgeball matches.
    5. A lot of his dialogue is over the top and had some toilet humor done right.
    6. His death scene is pretty funny where a piece of light equipment lands on him.
    7. Even though he puts down the team, he is very supportive of them.

    Bad Qualities

    1. Given that he grew up in the early 20th century, he is naturally bigoted towards disabled people and gay people.
    2. His death scene, while hilarious is kind of sad to watch.
    3. Him talking about drinking his own urine is gross, even though it was funny.
