Pac-Man is the main titular character of the eponymous series with his name. He is a circular being who is known for eating, is Namco's mascot (and after Namco merged with Bandai in 2005 to form Bandai-Namco, he became Bandai-Namco's mascot as well), and one of the most well-known video game characters of all time. Pac-Man is often portrayed in many different variations character-wise such as being a family man or getting an adventurous personality.

    Why He Waka-Waka-Rocks

    1. Depending on how he's designed, he is shown to be wholesome-looking, especially towards younger players and women.
    2. Similar to Mario, he was gifted as one of the most famous mascots in video game history.
    3. Even though Pac-Man sometimes doesn't clearly have a personality, he does get one in some moments which makes him more entertaining to look at.
    4. If Pac-Man is a family man, he does show to have a caring attitude towards his family. This is present in some media such as the Pac-Man World games (Especially the first and third games) or the Hanna-Barbera series from the '80s.
    5. Pac-Man was able to be trained by non-other than Pac-Master who taught Pac-Man how to fight and use the power pellets in order to help defend Pac-Land from many baddies. This leads him to become the Pac-Man we all know and love.
    6. Pac-Man is willing to save not just his family, but also other people as well which is seen in Pac-Man World 2, Pac-Man World 3, and Pac 'n Roll as good examples. This is proof that he can go on top of most situations
    7. His diet is fairly right he normally does eat things such as cherries, strawberries, oranges, and whatever else.
    8. Pac-Man is usually a nice person as evident in some things like Pac-Man World 3 where he was willing to be in companionship towards Orson and had to team up with Blinky (though for some reason, Blinky was named Clyde) and Pinky.
    9. Speaking of Pac-Man World 3, he does have a snarky and hilarious side like when he confronted Erwin after the final battle.
    10. He is often seen as happy-go-lucky and fun-loving, which could explain why he does have a happy face most of the time.
    11. His decisions can be clever like when he tricked the Spectral Fiend into jumping off a cliff by accident or tricking Irwin into getting killed by an energy beam from his own machine.
    12. While he's adventurous, he does like the idea of having a normal life.

    Waka-Waka-Bad Qualities

    1. He sometimes thinks too much about his hunger and can have food on his mind. This could result from Pac-Man being a glutton.
    2. Though intentional, he can somehow eat non-edible things like a key or a bell.
    3. He was flanderized in Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures.
      • Another form of flanderization he suffered from was in the movie Pixels which depicts Pac-Man as a mindlessly destructive and brutish villain despite Pac-Man never being one in the games.
    4. In Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures, his emotions can be rather lame.
      • If he gets too happy, he will become very cocky and is less willing to follow the orders of the players. Another thing is that he often doesn't listen to players no matter how many times you click on some time. Not to mention he is always confused or angry. Do you know how much of a chore is to cheer up Pac-Man of all things?
      • Speaking of which, his voice in said game is very annoying. It's also no better in the Genesis version.
    5. Not necessarily a bad thing, but Pac-Man can sometimes lack personality, as he is silent. That is ironic, since Pac-Man actually does speak in Pac-Man World 3, Pac-Man Party, Street Fighter X Tekken, the 1982 Pac-Man cartoon series, and especially Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures.

    Trivia

    • The idea of Pac-Man was taken from both the image of a pizza with a slice removed and from rounding out the Japanese symbol "kuchi", meaning "mouth".
    • In Japan, he was originally titled "Puckman" for his hockey puck-like shape, which was changed in international releases to prevent defacement of the arcade cabinets.
    • He is credited as the first video game mascot character and the first to receive merchandise.
    • The arcade art on the original Puck-Man portrayed him as a yellow circle with a large mouth as well as hands, feet, eyes and a long nose. The North American Pac-Man artwork by Midway, went a different way and depicted him as a yellow circle with legs and large red eyes
    • In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Pac-Man was reportedly requested by Shigeru Miyamoto to be the third third-party character in Brawl, but Masahiro Sakurai rejected that request because his pizza-shaped design was too far-fetched. However, Pac-Man did joined Smash Bros. after all ever since Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
    • His line, "The Power Pill", in Roy lazarovich's "The Pill video", spawned many memes.
