Optimus Prime is the main protagonist of Transformers: Prime and the deuteragonist of its "sequel", Transformers: Robots in Disguise/Adventure. He is voiced by Peter Cullen, who voiced Optimus Prime in The Transformers and the Michael Bay pentalogy.
Why He's Just Prime
- Although loosely based on the Michael Bay pentalogy of Optimus Prime and somewhat on G1 Prime. He has almost everything the G1 Prime has, except better.
- His design in this series looks cool and futuristic.
- Same can be said here to his Beast Hunters design that looks badass as well.
- Optimus Prime is very caring and protective for every one of his other Autobot and human allies.
- He is very noble, he has shown fine personal qualities and high moral principles and ideals. This Optimus Prime truly meant "freedom is the right of all sentient beings".
- He's a great fighter and a responsible leader.
- While he does seem considered emotionless at times, this is highly understandable since he wanted to keep his anger in check which makes him thankfully much different from his Michael Bay counterpart.
- He's a good father-figure to his fellow Autobots especially to his human allies Jack, Miko and Rafael.
- Continuing with that quote, this is one of the few Optimus Primes that works together with Megatron due to their dynamic in the show.
- Him sacrificing himself to save Cybertron was a very brave thing to do.
- Peter Cullen still does an amazing job voicing him just like how he did in The Transformers and the Michael Bay pentalogy.
- The action figures of him are also really nice, especially the First Edition Voyager Class version.
- He is also likable in the two beloved Cybertron games, the books connected to the Aligned continuity that leads to the events of the series including Transformers: The Covenant of Primus and the Rescue Bots shows which he was able to redeem himself in Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy along with Bumblebee.
- It was also revealed that he pardoned Wedge to start a new life as an Autobot and in the end, he welcomed Laserbeak to the Autobots after he recognized his efforts to change.
Bad Qualities
- He has been overshadowed by one of his basis, his movie self.
- He was flanderized into a dull character in Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2015)
Trivia
- He was supposed to be a ghost in Robots in Disguise (2015)
