    Incredible Characters Wiki

Morpheus is a secondary protagonist of the Matrix film franchise. He was played by Laurence Fishburne.

    Why He Rocks

    1. Morpheus helped train Neo to be a part of the Resistance.
    2. The scene where he offers Neo to take either a blue pill or a red pill is iconic. It went on to the point that the pills became political analogies.
    3. Laurence Fishburne did an amazing job portraying Morpheus and it's his most notable role.
    4. His voice is very soothing to listen to.
    5. Morpheus had impressive fighting skills.
    6. He has memorable quotes such as “I have dreamed a dream, but now that dream is gone from me.” and “Don't think you are. Know you are.”
    7. He went from getting his ass kicked by Agent Smith in the first film to being able to fight evenly with Johnson, an upgraded agent, in The Matrix Reloaded.
    8. Morpheus is considered one of the most memorable mentor figures in science fiction alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda.

    The Only Bad Qualities

    1. Since his arc was concluded in the previous film, he has little to do in the third film except assist Niobe.
    2. He was wasted in The Matrix Resurrections, not only he was recast as Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, he just serves as a plot device with little-to-no Character Development. It makes more sense because he actually died in The Matrix Online, though.

    Trivia

    • Fishburne reprised his role in the 2005 video game The Matrix: Path of Neo.
