"Eren, thank you... for wrapping this scarf around me."

Mikasa at the end of Attack on Titan; the last words in the entire franchise.

Mikasa Ackerman is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Armin Arlert) of the Attack on Titan anime/manga series.

Why She's One of Humanity's Strongest Soldiers

    1. Mikasa is one of Attack on Titan's best characters, who also happen to be one of the most skilled, and one of the most badass.
    2. She's vicious, yet elegant, emotionless, but caring, strong, and sweet.
    3. Miaksa's personality and background is also pretty interesting. She may have an aloof aura, but has a viewpoint of the world being beautiful.
      • Since her parents, as well as her unborn younger brother have been killed, Eren had to avenge them by killing her kidnappers, he (if you include Levi and the Azumabito clan by blood) is the only family Mikasa has left, she has been really devoted to protect him at all costs.
    4. While we may view Eren to be the main protagonist of Attack on Titan, Mikasa is actually the main hero, while Eren is the main villain, and Armin is the narrator. And audiences watch the story unravel through Eren's point of view. There are plenty of foreshadowing that proves it:
      • Since Eren was the one that motivated her into what she became now, Mikasa motivated Eren to love.
      • Eren is pretty vicious and bloodthirsty (especially as a child), while Mikasa is mostly calm, but also violent when pushed to the edge.
      • Both Eren and Mikasa's points of view in life are polar opposites: Eren's is pessimistic, while Mikasa is optimistic.
    5. A lot of ending themes symbolizes Miaksa's love for Eren:
      • This Beautiful, Cruel World is a message of Mikasa's devotion to protect Eren.
      • UNDER THE TREE gives Mikasa the realization of how much Eren has been suffering deep down.
      • Itterashai has Mikasa wanting to say she loves Eren deep down, but is now too late knowing he is too far gone.
    6. One of the OVAs happen to be alternate timelines with Mikasa's life with Eren:
      • One of them depicts Mikasa having a normal childhood (also with her parents being alive and well), developed a proper friendship with Eren, and having fun with each another.
      • Unfortunately, she meets a mysterious man in black telling her no matter what Mikasa tries to do be with Eren, Eren's fate has been locked, meaning he is doomed from the start, and Mikasa cannot do anything to prevent it.
        • This also parallels Eren being unable to change the future with the Attack Titan and end the cycle of violence permanently, knowing someone in the future can restart the entire thing all over again and again.
    7. "I'll live, no matter what! If I can't, then I'll just die. But if I win I live. Unless I fight, I cannot win."
      • "When you're the queen, you should punch that runt for me."
      • "I don’t want to lose what little family I have left."
      • "That’s right… this world… is cruel. it hit me that living was like a miracle."
      • "Asking me for compassion is mistaken. After all, I have no heart or time to spare."
      • "Once I'm dead, I won’t even be able to remember you. so I’ll win, No matter what. I’ll live, no matter what!"
    8. Her being forced to kill Eren once and for all is one of the biggest highlights of her character. A girl making a really difficult decision of whether to either let the world die, or have her entire world die by putting Eren out of his misery.

    Bad Qualities

    1. Her leaving Louise to die was rather cruel of her.
    2. Much like Eren, she has the tendency to act recklessly and impulsively, which she had to be calmed down by either Armin or Levi.

    • Yui Ishikawa teared up after saying "See you later, Eren..." after recording, and had Yūki Kaiji and Marina Inoue comforting her.
    • Mikasa shares the same voice actress as 2B.
