Why He Doesn't Deserve Execution

  1. Being raised by his kindhearted adopted father, Mash is a compassionate boy (despite his deadpan facial expression) who believes what's good for him and his friends by protecting from those who try to hurt them.
    • After meeting Dot Barrett at the Forest Scorpion Exercise, Mash fought Silva Iron and Lauren Cabasse on the former's behalf for looking down on him as the unpopular guy.
    • During the Divine Visionary Exam, he protected the injured Finn Ames from Carpaccio Luo-Yang and was able to take the victory on Finn and Dot's behalf by taking down the opponent's goddess statue of the Healing Cane.
    • He was determined to rescue Lemon Irvine and all of the students who were turned into wooden puppets by Abel Walker.
  2. His character and iconic moments are huge shout-outs to Harry Potter, as both are students of a magic academy with a bolt-shaped marking on their faces respectively.
  3. To compensate his lack of magic, Mash is capable of using his muscles what hilariously surpassed any fellow schoolmate's magic, much to everyone's surprise.
  4. His series of running gags regarding his workouts in his free time or his simple-mindedness is greatly humorous.
  5. Whether it's played for laughs or drama, his battles with the opponents he encountered (particularly Cell War) are very entertaining to watch.
  6. His obsession with cream puffs is absolutely memorable.
    • ♪ "Cream puff party, cream puff party, cream puff party, cream puff party, cream puff party, cream puff party, cream puff party." ♪
  7. Chiaki Kobayashi and Aleks Le did an amazing job of voicing him.
    • Along with other characters he perfectly voiced from other media, the English casting choice for Le voicing Mash makes up for the mediocre dubbing performance as Kazuya Kinoshita from Rent-A-Girlfriend.

Bad Qualities

  1. Given that he tends to solve everything with only muscles, Mash is rather simple-minded for a few reasons:
    • He pulls out the door whenever he enters the room, much to Regro and Finn's chagrin.
    • He is not academically bright in academics, which would put him at risk of being expelled from Easton. Thankfully, his friends were able to help him study for finals exams to maintain his status.
    • He is oblivious to Lemon's romantic feelings for him.
  2. Despite being open to find peaceful resolutions, Mash can be blunt with his words to his opponents.

Trivia

  • Aside from being the deconstructed parody of Harry Potter, Mash's personality and deadpan expression resemble that of Saitama from One Punch Man and Shigeo Kageyama from Mob Psycho 100, both of which are created by One.
    • He is also similar to Asta from Black Clover, as both are simple-minded muscular fighters who stands out for being born with no magic in a fantasy world of magic users.
  • His English voice actor, Aleks Le, also voices Zenitsu Agatsuma from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
  • Since the release of the viral Season 2 OP, titled "Bling Bang Bang Born" by Creepy Nuts, Mash gains more recognition for his iconic dance, in which fans had spawned internet memes and dancing videos.
