Kuki Sanban a.k.a. Numbuh 3 is one of the four deuteragonists of the 2002-2p08 animated series, Codename: Kids Next Door. She is a Japanese-American Kids Next Door Operative in Sector V.

Why She Rocks

1. She is is the happy-go-lucky girl of Sector V, which is very believable due to her lovable personality.
2. She's the "Diversionary Tactics Expert," and is the nurse of the medical lab and the primary caretaker of hamsters in Sector V.
3. She obviously cares about her teammates very much, which is often shown throughout the series.
4. She seems to also have a capability of speaking languages that would normally be considered gibberish or non-understandable, shown in Operations: D.I.A.P.E.R. and V.I.D.E.O.G.A.M.E. (Baby and Firefly, respectively).
5. She is the pilot of Hippy-Hop, a giant mechanical rabbit that is equipped with a complete arsenal of weapons such as missiles and drills.
   • There’s a funny running gag throughout the show that Hippy-Hop gets destroyed whenever it appears, followed by Numbuh 3 ejecting from the wreck with a parachute, despite being close to the ground.
6. She shares a very close bond with Mushi, her younger sister, and treats Kuki as her "best friend," both having similar personalities.
7. Despite her happy-go-lucky nature, she knows when to fight evil and never gives up a fight, sharing the same loyalty as her teammates.
8. She's shown to not be as air-headed as she acts, such as joking with Numbuh 1 when he was leaving for the Galactic KND in Operation I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W.S.
9. Out of all members, she is closer to Numbuh 4, and she has feelings for him which is mutual.
   • This is saying something since she is also a "dude magnet" who caught the attention of several boys finding her attractive such as Wally/Numbuh 4, Numbuh 30C, The Kid, and Sandy (before seeing her sister Mushi).

Bad Qualities

1. Her overly childish attitude can be annoying.
2. Her obsession with Rainbow Monkeys shows a scary side of her, and not in a good way.
   • It also makes her very insensitive to Wally (Numbuh 4) as even though she knows he doesn't like Rainbow Monkeys, she doesn't care and forces him to get involved with her.
3. While she normally fights off evil, her happy attitude sometimes makes her oblivious to some deeper evil.
   • For example, she doesn’t know that her own younger sister, Mushi, is sadly not as sweet as she thought she was, and she actually has a very sinister and conniving personality, despite her age. Thankfully, she did find out thanks to Numbuh 2 exposing Mushi’s true colors in Operation: C.L.U.E.S., which left her saddened and heartbroken, but got through it and moved on, still being her happy self, much like how Numbuh 5 is still her normal self after knowing her sister was evil.
4. She tends to foolishly listens to Numbuh's conspiracy theories and ignores Numbuh 5 when she points they're wrong.

Trivia

• Her favourite type of Rainbow Monkey is an orange one, referencing her crush on Wallabee, a.k.a. Numbuh 4, specifically his orange hoodie.
• Her codename is linked to her last name "Sanban", which is Japanese for "Number 3"; san (三) means three and ban (番) means number.
• Operation: I.N.T.E.R.V.I.E.W.S. shows she married Numbuh 4 in the future.
• Her given name is Japanese for "stem" (茎). It can also be written as 空気 (kūki), which means "air", and reflects her carefree personality.
