You're a Prince and you're going to marry a princess!
    Gender: Male

    Species: Human
Portrayed by: Bill Thompson (Sleeping Beauty)
Jeff Bennett (Disney Princess Enchanted Tales: Follow Your Dreams)
Robert Lindsay (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil)
    Status: Alive
    Media of origin: Sleeping Beauty

King Hubert is one of the minor characters in the 1959 Disney animated film Sleeping Beauty. The ruler of his neighboring kingdom, he is Prince Phillip's father and King Stefan's jolly friend.

Why He Is One Jolly Ruler of His Kingdom

    1. He has a great character design of a king, despite the white hair (see below in NSJQ#2).
      1. There are some old book adaptations of the same name that shows him in auburn hair. Had they include the auburn hair/beard, then it could have at least made him consistent to his age.
    2. He is a supporting and loving father to Prince Phillip, especially when he accepted his son's wish to marry the girl he met, even though he disapproved of it at first, not knowing that she's actually his betrothal, Aurora.
    3. He wishes to have Phillip marry Aurora in order to unite their kingdoms.
    4. He and King Stefan make a great duo as both comic relief and minor characters, as proven in the "Skumps" sequence and in the original deleted song "It Happens I Have A Picture".
    5. His sleepy conversation with Stefan helps Flora realize that Phillip was the same man Aurora had previously met.
    6. The performances by the late Bill Thompson and Jeff Bennett succeeded in making him a loud and jolly fatherly ruler we know and love.
    7. He has two interesting songs like "Skumps" and "It Happens I Have A Picture".
    8. He is also a likable character in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and is thankfully not flanderized like King Stefan was in the first controversial film.

    Not-So-Jolly Qualities

    1. Even if it was used for freedom standards and even though it can reference to those who have abnormal gene, Hubert has white hair/facial hair when Prince Phillip was young, which makes it inconsistent for his age at the beginning of the film.
    2. As was the case with Stefan, there are still some moments where Hubert can be prone to being a temperamental, angry, and stubborn king who is often prone to anger outbursts, such as getting upset at Stefan over the thought of Phillip not being good enough for Aurora.
