Kichimura Washuu (in Japanese: 和修 吉福, Washū Kichimura) formerly known as Souta Washuu-Furuta (in Japanese: 和修旧多 宗太, Washū Furuta Sōta) is the main antagonist of the manga and anime series Tokyo Ghoul franchise, serving as a minor but pivotal antagonist in the original Tokyo Ghoul and the main antagonist in its sequel, Tokyo Ghoul:re.

Why He is the True Mastermind

1. With how comically evil Furuta is, the way he acts, plans, his true nature, and what his motivations are, is a perfect example to be The Joker to Ken Kaneki's Batman.
2. Even when he's a right-hand man and assistant of whoever's in charge, Furuta is really manipulative that it seems to be very difficult to be trustworthy if his acting is convincing, or feeling for real, much like Odin from God of War: Ragnarok. If anything, he is responsible for everything that happened in the entirety of Tokyo Ghoul:
   • He wants to commit chaos to attack GOAT in order to commit world peace by killing every ghoul in existence.
   • Dropped steel beams on Rize and Kaneki and making it look like "an accident".
   • Was involved in shady cults named V and The Clowns to manipulate the CCG, Aogiri, and GOAT.
     • He is also responsible for Eto's turning into evil and creating Aogiri.
   • Was Akihiro Kanou's assistant, and encouraged him to turn humans into ghouls by transplanting, which happened to Kaneki, Takizawa, Rio (who now became Shikorae), and Amon.
     • Even though he planned on resurrecting Haru Ihiei and Ginshi Shirazu into mindless zombies, he (alongside the entirety of V) perished before they did so.
   • Killed the head of his family to become in charge of the CCG and tricked them into doing horrible things. Thus permanently damaging the CCG's reputation and legacy.
   • Played both sides of humanity and ghoulkind in order to win.
   • After plenty of experiments, he turned Rize into a dragon against her will.
   • He also gloated and mocked Kaneki after losing his fight with Juuzo (in the manga) and caused Ken to become a dragon out of his control.
3. He may not look like it, but his Kakuja, and kagune is guaranteed to be much stronger than Kishou Arima, and Arima was already considered to be the CCG's strongest. His Kagune (which was stolen from Rize) and Kakuja armor of his own (which is an inspiration of Carnage from Marvel Comics) is guaranteed that Furuta may mess around, but not reckoned to mess with, which makes him all the more dangerous.
4. Furuta does not seem to mess around to killing one of Tsukiyama's assistants and Eto. Especially when he is at his most "cowardly" state.
5. Hence his insanity and quirks that stood him out, Furuta does share a lot in common with a lot of villains in the franchise:
   • He never had any obsession with power unlike Kaneki, Eto, nor the original One-Eyed King, but shares the same goals as them. It's how they wanted to achieve world peace that made it different.
   • Similarly to Uta, he just wanted to make most of his life until his death. Even if he is driven by chaos.
   • Wanting to have Rize, like her caretaker Matasaka.
   • Obsessed with Rize, like with Kanae's obsession with Tsukiyama, and Tsukiyama's obsession with Kaneki.
   • And finally, he and Kaneki sharing the same experiences of how Rize changed their lives, especially by embracing both of their monstrous selves, and became who they are currently.
6. He is a well-written version of Skeletor from Masters of the Universe: Revelation.
7. My oh my. Didn't expect you to be here. You were meant to be nothing but the dragon's offering, but here you're still kickin'. So, what brings you down here? Don't tell me... You're here for some crazy shit, like stopping this? Hm. Don't actually tell m- (Gets slashed by Kaneki) Whoa! What!? Okay! Crazy shit it is! By the way, you're supposed to ask me first before attacking, like "How could you do this?!, or "Why!?" You love that stuff right?! That "Why do we fight?" type crap! Right-
   • Kaneki: I don't care.
   • Furuta: (Trembling in fear) So... serious!

Bad Qualities

1. He has an exaggerated obsession with Rize.
   • Me and Rize will have looooots of babies. 101 Dalmatians style.
2. His outfit after getting promoted into a Bureau Chief with the Groucho glasses with the word "party" on top looks really goofy.
3. Furuta became offended when Eto mentioned that she joked that he has issues with his father, Tsuneyoshi Washuu. The man he's trying hard to impress despite Tsuneyoshi himself never seeing Furuta as his own son, and Furuta reacted to Eto by telling her to die.

• Furuta shares the same Japanese voice actor as Steely Dan from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
• The name Furuta Nimura (旧多二福) is a play on his birthday: The family name Furuta plays on "one day more," while the given name Nimura is a play on "2/29." The literal meaning for Furuta is "many old" and for Nimura is "two blessing."
