Kangaroo Jack is the titular character of the Warner Brothers film series. He was voiced by Adam Garcia and Jeff Bennett.
Why He Likes Hopping
- While he is wasted in the first movie, he is still cute and funny.
- He was given a lot more screen-time in the sequel. On top of that, he is the actual protagonist.
- Adam Garcia and Jeff Bennett voiced him quite well and Frank Welker provided his vocal effects.
- He is a lot more likable than Charlie and Louis, which says something.
- For the first movie’s DVD, he provided hilarious scene by scene commentary.
- He sings rap music very well. He sang “Rapper’s Delight” and LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out”.
- Unlike the other characters in the first movie, he doesn't indulge in innuendos.
- He can do boxing and kick his enemies.
- He is considered a memorable fictional kangaroo despite how wasted he was in the first movie.
- He takes good care of his wife and son.
Bad Qualities
- He had little screentime in the first movie with only 7 minutes. The only times he talked in that movie is a dream sequence and the very end.
- Executive meddling: Down and Under started off as an R-rated mob comedy but producer Jerry Bruckheimer decided to retool the film into a PG-rated family friendly talking animal movie. This may have been a good thing due to the movie doing well at the box office and that a more family friendly animated sequel was made.
- Him saying “chicken blood” repeatedly in the dream sequence is kind of creepy.
- He can try too hard to appeal to kids who grew up in the early 2000s.
- His CGI is kind of ugly, especially when he talks.
Trivia
- In the first movie, Jackie Legs was originally going to be animatronic but he got replaced with a CGI model.
