Hu Tao (Chinese: 胡桃) is a playable Pyro character in Genshin Impact. She is the 77th Director of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, a person vital to managing Liyue's funerary affairs. She does her utmost to flawlessly carry out a person's last rites and preserve the world's balance of yin and yang. Aside from this, she is also a talented poet whose many "masterpieces" have passed around Liyue's populace by word of mouth.

Why She Rocks

1. Hu Tao gives a familiar vibe and energy as Deadpool, since both are pranksters who play around with other characters, while using their comedic intent to distract themselves from their sad backgrounds. Not to mention that both characters wear red and dark brown.
2. When she's not pulling pranks or mess/scare with other people, Hu Tao keeps her late grandfather's business active, wander in the night doing poetry, and helps lost souls go back to the afterlife.
3. Astonishing character design. It's very detailed that many consider her to be a female version of Hanako from Toilet Bound Hanako-Kun.
4. Even with her troublemaking attitude, Hu Tao has major respect for her clients, mainly Zhongli.
5. Hu Tao's "Aiya" became a meme.
6. She's very intelligent.
7. She does mean well when trying to bury and seal Qiqi away, and avoid having her to suffer much longer, since the child died at a very young age and was resurrected from the dead hundreds of years later (That is until the bad qualities below.).
   • Hu Tao pampers the little zombie every once in a while.
8. Hu Tao accepts death as a natural part of life; while this may make her appear callous to others, it helps her truly respect her job to help the dead "cross over".

Bad Qualities

1. She is considered to be "annoying" by other characters (excluding for Xingqiu and Xiao), mostly despised by Qiqi (although the latter does have her reasons for doing so).
   • Even though she tried to bury Qiqi with good intentions, Hu Tao tried to kidnap her in a bag many times, causing the little zombie to hate her.
2. It's never explained why she has a little ghost around her.

Trivia

• Hu Tao can read 3 volumes of books while doing handstands, and play 4-player card games by herself.
• She is voiced by Rie Takahashi in the Japanese, and Brianna Knickerbocker in the English audio. Surprisingly, both actresses played two characters from Re:Zero: both Rem and Emilia.
• Her signature song is a reference to the Chinese nursery rhyme about 10 rabbits harming each other.
