Foreman Spike is a character in the Mario franchise who debuted in Wrecking Crew.
Why He's Wrecking Crew In A Good Way
- As Mario and Luigi's former boss, this was a very interesting concept in that time and he adds a lot of charm to his character like finding Coin and knocking Mario off, teaming up with Bowser, etc.
- He returns in Wrecking Crew '98 as a playable character and working with Bowser with a major role.
- He is often said to be a prototype of Wario, which is creative.
- He finally returns in The Super Mario Bros. Movie since Mobile Golf, and is given proper characterization as the boss of the Wrecking Crew company before Mario and Luigi left to start Super Mario Bros. Plumbing, and it is nice to finally see him again.
- He adds some challenge to the Wrecking Crew levels such as trying to knock off Mario off the platform.
- He can be nice at times and shows that he cares for Mario and Luigi such as The Super Mario Bros. Movie where he celebrates Mario and Luigi's victory of saving Brooklyn.
- Sebastian Maniscalco does a great job voicing him in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
- He has a bunch of hilarious memorable quotes such as:
- "Well, well, well, If it isn't Brooklyn's favorite failures, the Stupid Mario Brothers!"
- His design is creative and nice, especially in The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
- As one of Mario's earliest characters, he made some impact on the series.
Bad Qualities
- For some reason, which is surprising, he was not shown in any promotional material until the movie's release, with the exception of his SpikeIsCool review on the Super Mario Bros. Plumbing site.
- A missed opportunity of him that does not drive the Super Mario Bros. Plumbing van and go to the Mushroom Kingdom in the same Warp Pipe that Mario and Luigi went through in the Brooklyn sewers and got separated with Mario going to the Mushroom Kingdom and Luigi go to the Dark Lands, try to find the Mario brothers, work for Bowser, and admit he was wrong to the brothers, nor is there a post-credits scene of him hiring Wario and Waluigi as replacements of the Mario brothers and send them to the Brooklyn sewers to go to the same Warp Pipe that Mario and Luigi were sucked into.
- His The Super Mario Bros. Movie counterpart can be seen as unlikable, since he bullies Mario and Luigi for leaving his "Wrecking Crew" business and starting Super Mario Bros. Plumbing.
