Dylan (Flappy in French) is one of the main characters from The Magic Roundabout. He is a laid-back and dopey hippie rabbit who lives with Dougal and his friends in the Enchanted Gardens.
Why He Rocks
- He is portrayed as a hippie guitarist in the English-language version where he tends to drift off to sleep from time-to-time.
- His design as a hippie rabbit is great. Even when it is modified in the 2005 CGI film and the 2007 revival series.
- He is revealed to be very skilled at different forms of martial arts in the 2005 film where he uses them to take out the skeletons in the temple.
- He is brave enough to take on Zeebad in the climax of the 2005 film and uses his own guitar to bat one of the diamonds into one of the slots on the roundabout. Also, he manages to summon Train to knock Zeebad down and to get the third diamond out of his grasp with Zebedee's magic box.
- He is shown to be quite good at cooking such as making pancakes and spaghetti in the original series. He also opened a pizzeria twice and in one episode, recited to Dougal the recipe to making an apricot pie.
- He is also very artistic where he was making a sculpture of Dougal in one episode and would rework his facial features carefully despite getting infuriated by many characters interrupting him.
- Actor Bill Nighy does an awesome job voicing Dylan in the 2005 film.
- Jimmy Hibbert also does a decent job voicing him in the 2007 revival series.
- He is usually laid-back and rarely gets upset whenever things go wrong.
- While he doesn't fall asleep, Dylan stays awake to help his friends in need in most episodes.
- In one episode, he comforts Ermintrude, who was feeling sad after eavesdropping on Dougal's insults about her, and reassures her that she must not let insults get to her where he gathers flower and a tree as comfort food for Ermintrude.
Bad Qualities
- Sometimes, he has the tendency to drift off to sleep which can cause more problems to the other characters. An example of this happens in "Dougal's Bad Smell Day" when he volunteers to help out with Florence's plan to capture Dougal by pulling the rope to drop the cage on Dougal when he comes to eat the trifle. When everyone hides upon seeing Dougal coming, Dylan drifts off to sleep and completely forgets about what he is supposed to do, letting Dougal eat the trifle and leave.
- He was flanderized in the American version of the 2005 film where he is self-centered on becoming a rockstar instead of a hippie.
