    Deckard Shaw
Dominic Toretto. You don't know me. You're about to.
    Gender: Male
Type: British Special Forces soldier and MI6 agent turned mercenary
    Species: Human
    Portrayed by: Jason Statham
    Status: Alive
Media of origin: The Fast and the Furious

Deckard Shaw is a recurring character in the Fast & Furious franchise. He appears as the overarching antagonist of Fast & Furious 6, the main antagonist of Furious 7, the anti-heroic tritagonist of The Fate of the Furious, one of the two titular main protagonists (alongside Luke Hobbs) of Hobbs & Shaw, a cameo character in F9 and a supporting protagonist in Fast X.

    Why He Kicks Ass

    1. Deckard has a cool introduction at the end of Fast and Furious 6, where it's revealed that he was the one who crashed Han's car in Tokyo Drift and he made a call to Dom that he doesn't know him, but he's about to.
    2. Deckard sought out to avenge his brother Owen, following his defeat at the hands of Dominic Toretto and his crew.
    3. Deckard is an extremely skilled fighter and martial artist, being able to contend with much stronger opponents and groups of other grown men and his fighting style appears to consist of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Wing Chun Kung Fu, karate and kickboxing.
    4. Deckard is also adept with explosives. He entered the Royal Defense Medical Centre in London and created a sustainable amount of damage with explosives used to take out several police officers and hospital personnel.
    5. He is highly skilled in the use of firearms, including pistols, sub-machine guns, shotguns, assault and sniper rifles, as he was a former special forces soldier.
    6. He engaged with Dom in an epic one-on-one brawl all over the roof of the parking garage. The two were well matched, with the tide of the fight going back and forth.
    7. After being sent to prison by the end of the seventh movie, he escapes alongside Hobbs in the eighth movie and joins forces with the rest of the team to take down Cipher, as he has his personal reasons to want Cipher dead.
    8. He eventually makes a full Heel–Face Turn, by saving Dom's son from Cipher.
    9. Alongside Luke Hobbs, he gets his own film, Hobbs & Shaw. This film puts them both center-stage, and gives a lot more information on their origins and what drives them.
    10. He has a great chemistry with Hobbs in The Fate of the Furious. They initially started as bitter enemies, having Snark-to-Snark Combat while in prison, to eventually laughing while insulting each other. Hobbs even becomes shocked when Deckard is seemingly shot dead by Dom. They seem to be buddies at the end of the film.
      • In their spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, the two hurl petty insults at each other.

    Bad Qualities

    1. He committed a serious of crimes, like destroying a hospital, killing Han and blowing up the Torreto house, nearly killing Dom's nephew in the process.
    2. He unfortunately gets pushed aside after Mose Jakende shows up. Shaw only comes for a couple scenes during each conflict Dom's crew get themselves into, and the last act ultimately turns out to be mainly about Jakande's mercenaries, with Deckard just going after Dom and him alone without caring that his other friends are also equally responsible for crippling his brother.
      • Seeing him get sidelined by Jakande, who doesn't even show up in any trailer, may put off some viewers, especially after all that build up in the trailers portrays him as the ultimate badass out for Dom's crew's blood
    3. Despite their excellent chemistry and lines, Hobbs & Shaw overexploits the development between them, with their colorful bickering becoming tiresome the seventh time or so it is used as a gag. It doesn't help that the film seems to undo all the bonding they had done in the eighth film in order to repeat it again as this film's own schtick.

    Trivia

    • Jason Statham's appearances at the end of Fast & Furious 6 and F9 are uncredited cameos.
    • During the early stages of development for Furious 7, Deckard Shaw was originally named "Ian Shaw".
