Coco Bandicoot is the tritagonist in the Crash Bandicoot series and the highly intelligent and spirited younger sister of Crash. Just like her brother, Coco was an ordinary bandicoot until she was taken from the jungle and genetically enhanced by Nitrus Brio and Neo Cortex. It is unknown how she came to live with Crash afterwards as she was not seen in the first game stating how Crash and Tawna were created.
Why She Rocks
- She is capable of hacking through technology using her laptop.
- She admires her big brother and even mimicks his iconic dance in the N. Sane Trilogy.
- She can ride on a tiger cub named Pura, a jetski, a plane, a snowboard and a spaceship.
- Because of her playability in the N. Sane Trilogy, she plays almost like her big brother Crash, but with tons of unique animations to stand out.
- She is generally depicted as cheerful and high spirited.
- She once helped Nash with his insomniac problem by hacking into his brain in order for him to get some sleep.
- She learned how to stand up for herself by watching martial arts films.
Bad Qualities
- She usually sends Crash on errands such as cleaning the house and getting a laptop battery for her; when she could've done these tasks herself.
- Her playability in Wrath of Cortex seems to be a watered-down version of Crash's gameplay, such as only kicking instead of spinning.
- Just like her brother Crash, she was flanderized in the Radical Entertainment Era (Crash Tag Team Racing to Mind Over Mutant) where she was an annoying know it all Sandy Cheeks clone.
Trivia
- Coco's voice actress is one of the only three listed in the credits (and using real words) in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back.
- Vicki Winters did not do any further voice acting roles because she was not "well known" enough, despite wanting to continue working with Naughty Dog. More info can be found in this video.
- Debi Derryberry, the voice actress for Coco, is also the voice behind many TV characters, such as Jimmy Neutron. Coco and Jimmy coincidentally have a bit in common, both being "child genius" type characters.
- In CNK, Coco sometimes speaks in "l33tspeak" (early internet slang). Two of her quotes are "Roxxor!" and "Suxxor!", meaning "rocks!" and "sucks!" respectively.
- Coco's laptop was always hot pink in almost all appearances. However, in Crash Nitro Kart's intro, it is same shade of sky blue as her jeans. Oddly, the laptop returns to being pink during her podium defeat animation.
- In Crash Team Racing, when Coco loses, there is the Naughty Dog Logo on her laptop that can be seen when she comes in second place. When she comes in third place, you can see the Naughty Dog signature paw print on the laptop's screen.
- The Naughty Dog logo returns to her laptop in both the N. Sane Trilogy and It's About Time. The logo can also be seen on Coco's phone in the Trilogy and Nitro-Fueled.
