Chase Matthews is a student at Pacific Coast Academy and the one of the male protagonists in the Nickelodeon TV series Zoey 101 during the first 3 seasons and guest in 2 episodes in season 4. Chase is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Matthews. He is the best friend and former roommate of Michael Barret and Logan Reese, all of whom live in room 148 of Maxwell Hall until he left for Covington Preparatory School during season 4 with James replacing him. Chase is the best friend and boyfriend of Zoey Brooks. His other female friends include Quinn Pensky, Dana Cruz, Lola Martinez and Nicole Bristow. Chase enjoys playing basketball, fossball, disc golf, and writing stories for English class. One of his stories was produced as a school play.

Why He Rocks

1. He is sweet natured, awkward, kind, honest and charming.
2. He's a lovable guy with the heart of gold and the knack of getting himself into harm's way.
3. Chase has a kind heart and great social skills, which made him well liked in his school and he was always quick to help those in need.
4. Chase Michael and Logan's friendship has grown enormously throughout the series. They are always there for each other such as:
   • In season 4, when Chase left to Covington Preparatory School, the only thing that was on Michael's mind was that he missed Chase.
   • Logan even helped Chase admit that he misses Zoey and loves her as shown in "Goodbye Zoey", where Logan ripped the head off a stuffed giraffe Zoey gave him, showing that he does care for Chase and wishes him to be happy.
5. Chase and Zoey are one of the best parts of the show. Since they first met at PCA, Zoey and Chase have been intensely in love. Throughout their time at Pacific Coast Academy, they had been the closest of friends. Except for her, everyone is aware of Chase's crush on Zoey. While they were online dating, Chase told Zoey Brooks that he was in love with her. After then, Zoey Brooks confessed her love for Chase as well. Following the events in "Chasing Zoey", Chase and Zoey started dating.

Bad Qualities

1. He can be unlikable sometimes.
2. It kinda jumped the shark in its final season when the writers decided to have Chase sent to a prep school in England and replaced him with James as Zoey's love interest. James himself was a very bland, generic and unmemorable character.
   • The real life reason on why Chase only appeared in two episodes of season 4 is because Sean Flynn wanted to focus on school. However, his decision to pursue school over the show is a decision he ultimately regrets, claiming it turned out to be a mistake.
