Catarina “Cat” Valentine (simply called Cat, born June 26th, 1995) is one of the eight main protagonists on the Nickelodeon teen sitcom, Victorious and Sam & Cat. She is known as a ditzy, bubbly, cheerful, somewhat dimwitted person who rarely gets angry, although she is very sensitive.

She is portrayed by singer Ariana Grande.

Why She Rocked

1. She is sweet, naive, bubbly and cheerful, often unsuspecting of what is really going on around her because of it.
2. She is at her best in the first 2 seasons of Victorious.
3. She is an extreme social butterfly. Managing to, in one episode, join a female prison gang solely for the fact they saw her as cute and funny.
4. It was said by fans that Cat gets even more ditzy, strange and adorable with every passing season.
5. Her default mood is being giggly and sweet towards everyone and everything, hardly ever getting angry or in a bad mood.
6. She is an incredibly talented singer and dancer, courtesy of her actress, Ariana Grande.
7. For someone of her petite size and nature, she can be realistically ruthless and honest, if needed.
8. In Sam & Cat, she's extremely kind to Sam and allows her to stay at her apartment so that she doesn't have to go live at her mom's place.
9. She punched Tori in the nose so hard, it felt like being broken (it wasn't), had Hayley and Tara babysit a drugged-up, crazy Trina, and coldly points their severe lack of talent when they cheer about their rigged karaoke victory, even outright stating Hayley's father doesn't love her.
10. She is wholesome cuteness incarnate. From eating a taco adorably or simply playing with a set of jangling keys as a distraction, defining her role as the shortest, youngest and most childish of her group of friends.
11. Needless to say, she was a fan-favorite character, by the fans and the showrunners themselves. This is further evidenced when she gets the co-lead in the crossover spin-off, Sam & Cat, soon after Victorious had finished airing.

Bad Qualities

1. She was flanderized in the last 2 seasons of the show and even wrose in her spin-off show ''Sam & Cat'' In fact, she was flanderized enough to deserve a page^LCW on the Loathsome Characters Wiki. In the first season, Cat showed some maturity and sense, but in subsequent seasons, she seems more airheaded and childlike.
2. Nobody treats her well. Not even her best friends. It seems like they make jokes and insults about her just to make themselves look cool.
3. Tori always took her spotlight, which resulted in Cat getting fewer vocals than the rest of the cast.
4. While she is very friendly, her sensitivity, energy, and unusual thought processes make her somewhat difficult to be around without getting annoyed.
5. She can be perceived as irritating or intolerable to some, due to her childish mannerisms and shrill voice in later seasons/shows.

Trivia

• Ariana Grande, the actress who portrays her, said she feels Cat is a challenging character to play because her ditziness might make it hard for her to be seen as likable by the fans and that she works to make them understand Cat's personality.
• She originally explained that she dyed her hair red because it is the same color as a red velvet cupcake, which is her favorite dessert.
