Captain Marvelous (キャプテン・マーベラス Kyaputen Māberasu) was a former member of the Red Pirate Gang, now the red ranger and leader of the 35th Super Sentai team Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.
Why He's Very Showy
- He's a very cool, confident, and charismatic leader, making him one of the most popular Red Rangers, similarly to his predecessor and successor.
- Speaking of which, he was able to team up with Yamato in Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger.
- He feels very distinct among all the other Reds, being a cocky anti-hero who learns to be less of an asshole.
- He was very smart in recruiting his teammates by making sure they all served a purpose (Such as Joe and Luka's physical skills, Doc's intelligence and houseworking attributes, and Gai's knowledge of Super Sentai)
- His backstory is actually pretty emotional, being saved by Retsu Ichimonji/Space Sheriff Gavan and was mentored by AkaRed.
- His rivalry wish Basco (a former friend of Marvelous' who was a traitor to the Red Pirates) was the stuff of legends, as it was very personal and well written, similar to Taker vs. Juuzou and Hiromu vs. Enter
- Who could also forget the legendary fight between him and Tsukasa Kadoya/Kamen Rider Decade.
- His actor Ryota Ozawa did an amazing job bringing this character to life.
- And to top it all off, his powers of turning into every Red Ranger was really awesome, especially seeing all of the old suits in HD.
The Not So Showy Quality
- His American counterpart was a horrible character.
- He can sometimes act like a jerk, but he redeems himself for this.
