Bismuth is a character who appears in Steven Universe. She is one of the original and current members of the Crystal Gems. Before the end of the Rebellion, she and Rose Quartz had a conflict of interests leading to them falling out. This ultimately led to Bismuth being poofed, bubbled, and left inside of the Pink Dimension. Rose then lied to the other Gems, telling them that she went missing in battle. Years later, she was freed by Steven. As her proposal has been rejected again, both fought and was poofed and bubbled again by him albeit Steven revealed to the gems what happened to her. Later on, she was freed again to re-join the team permanently.

    Why She Rocks

    1. As soon as Biz returned, she took the role of a mentor for Steven and the Crystal Gems. From warning Steven about the Diamonds prior to Legs From Here to Homeworld to even telling Steven to be proud of his unusual traits before he's a Crystal Gem.
    2. Fitting her role as a tough-looking Gem, she's friendly yet fierce, determined, empathetic, and emotive. This could make her pretty much a gentle giant as she cares for her friends.
    3. She is never afraid to speak and act her mind. Sure, her manner of speaking turns out to be blunt, but she is on point anyways.
    4. Being an ally, she makes weapons to complement their existing skill-sets. She was responsible for giving Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl weapon upgrades.
    5. She does have a playful side as she often makes puns out of her name and habitually ribs the other Crystal Gems. When her friends are alive, she is playful of course. Even then, she does grieves for them when learning about how her friends could be dead in certain circumstances.
    6. She usually tries to differentiate herself from other Bisumuths by doing what she wants rather than sticking to a permanent role. This is because she maintains her own freedom.
    7. Character Development: She started to have a massive hatred towards the Homeworld Gems to the point of even attempting to attack Steven thinking that he's Rose attempting to stop Biz again. Later on, she realizes that she has done something wrong and even regrets it after learning about Rose/Pink Diamond. She became less bloodthirsty towards them.
    8. She has good leadership skills as she is seen rallying the Crystal Gems during the battle with the Diamonds and telling Steven to help the Gems to regain their memories.
    9. Reasonably well adapted to life on Earth. In Bismuth Casual, she made friends with humans thinking that it would make Pearl happy. However, Biz gets more confident after spending time with Pearl and gets along with Pearl's human friends.
    10. She does admit that Seven is better than Rose which is a sign of a being a graceful loser.

    Bad Quality

    1. She used to have huge hatred towards the Homeworld Gems to the point of building the Breaking Point as a source to defeat a Homeworld despite the ethical complications of using it.

    Trivia

    • In "Made of Honor", it is confirmed that Bismuth didn't know about the Corrupted Gems and assumed that all the other Crystal Gems are shattered. This is due to her being bubbled before the Rebellion's end.
    • Bismuth is the first non-corrupted Gem to be poofed by Steven.
    • Bismuth is the only known Crystal Gem to have been purposefully poofed by another Crystal Gem during their affiliation with the team. This is not counting Peridot, as she was not a Crystal Gem when she was poofed.
    • Bismuth is the first Gem shown whose gemstone is a metal and an actual element.
      • Bismuths and Pearls are the only known Gems whose gemstones are not minerals. However, in real life, they can be used in jewelry and/or as gemstones.
    • Her design is inspired by the Gorons from The Legend of Zelda series and the design of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
