Why They Are Funny Duos on Sesame Street

    Overall

    1. For starters, they're one of the most iconic preschool duos, not only that, but they could be one of the most classic duos of all time as well, along with Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, or Tom and Jerry.
    2. They both have distinctive personalities and serve as great foils to each other, and together, they form a comic duo that is one of the program's centerpieces, with Ernie acting the role of the naïve trouble-maker and Bert the world-weary foil.
    3. They both sing great songs together or alone.
      • Rubber Duckie (Ernie's best song)
      • I don't want to live on the moon (Also counts as Ernie's best)
      • Dance Myself to Sleep
      • Wake up
      • That's how the numbers go
      • Count on me
      • Adding
      • All Dressed Up
      • Be the Count
      • La La La
    4. They both serve as a good example of a healthy friendship to teach kids.
    5. Their voice actors and their portrayers both do a great job portraying them.

    Ernie

    1. For starters, he's an easy going goofball who likes to play games with his friends, especially Bert himself.
    2. He’s a positive person, always amused by something that’s happening nearby. A lover of board games and puzzles, he likes a healthy competition and encourages others to play nicely.
    3. He occasionally makes jokes when people aren’t in the mood, though he's quick to recognize his mistakes and apologize.
    4. His iconic snicker is well known and can be heard anytime he has dialogue.
    5. He has some great songs on his own, like the most famous as "Rubber Duckie" and "I don't want to live on the moon".
    6. Ernie can be hilarious at times.

    Bert

    1. Similar to Squidward Tentacles from the popular Nickelodeon animated TV series SpongeBob SquarePants, he deep down cares for Ernie, even though can be quite pessimistic at times. Additionally, his "pessimistic" nature is also one of the memorable parts of his character.
    2. His design. His design is well-made and so iconic, especially for his orange round nose.
    3. He has an interesting interest in things.
    4. Ernie is also one of the most memorable Sesame Street characters of all time, which is actually saying a lot.

    Bad Qualities

    Overall

    1. Nowadays, they both rarely get used.

    Ernie

    1. He can bother and or frustrate Bert at times when he isn't in the mood, like keeping Bert awake at times when Bert is sleeping or trying to sleep.
