    Why Ash's Pokémon Rock

    1. These Pokémon are very good adaptations of their own source material for a lot of reasons.
    2. They have very solid and detailed animations that constantly improve over the years, along with some very good art styles.
      • Out of all the art styles for each Pokémon, the art style for the ones that appear in Pokémon Journeys looks massively amazing.
    3. The designs of these Pokémon are highly imaginative and colorful.
    4. They have a lot of funny moments and jokes, particularly the slapstick moments from the earlier episodes.
    5. They move the wonderful stories in a solid direction.
    6. They all have pretty memorable moments:
      • Many, many of the gym battles Ash participles in.
      • The tournaments and competitions Ash competes in give them time to shine as well.
      • Many rival battles Ash participated in where his team wins, and examples of the best battles have to be against Gary, Paul, and Gladion.
      • The Battle Frontier, where Ash defeats all of the trainers using his skill and determination with his Pokémon.
    7. Out of all the teams Ash has assembled, the Kalos team, consisting of Pikachu, Talonflame, Hawlucha, Noivern, Goodra, and Greninja, is widely considered to be the best team of the show, despite having some flaws like how Noivern’s still young, and Goodra not having battled too much, they managed to get Ash to the Kalos League finals (even though he ended up losing).
      • Of course, all of the team’s success wouldn't be complete without the Kanto team gaining such high ratings and respect.
    8. Pikachu is solely often times the best part of each team, and he is very cute. He would never make the Pokémon franchise great without him.
      • Many other Pokémon are also very cute, like Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Lapras, Bayleef, Quilava, Totodile, Gible, Oshawott, Snivy, Scraggy, Goodra, Rowlet, and Dragonite.
      • On the other end, pretty much any Dragon (or dragon-like) Pokemon, like Gible, Goodra, Noivern, Naganadel, and Dragonite, are just awesome.
    9. Each Pokémon had amazing dubs by 4Kids Entertainment that kept the team’s charm very well faithful.
    10. This team also has some of the best Pokémon Ash has caught, and the best examples are:
      • From Kanto are Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charizard, Squirtle, Tauros, Mr. Mime (Mimey), Lapras, Snorlax, Dragonite and Gengar.
      • From Johto are Heracross, Bayleef, Quilava and Donphan.
      • From Hoenn are Swellow, Sceptile, Corphish and Glalie.
      • From Sinnoh are Staraptor, Infernape, Buizel, Gliscor, Gible and Lucario.
      • From Unova...are arguably Oshawott, Pignite, Snivy, Scraggy, Leavanny, Boldore (his first rock type) and of course, Krookodile.
      • ALL of his Kalos Team, Ash-Greninja, Talonflame, Hawlucha, Goodra (his first pseudo-legendary), and Noivern (who did take out a pseudo-legendary).
      • ALL of his Alola team, Rowlet, Lycanroc, Incineroar, Naganadel (his first Ultra Beast), and Melmetal (his first mythical).
      • So far, Sirfetch’d and Dracovish from Galar.
    11. All of these Pokémon are very likable/decent characters, many with unique and lovable personalities.
      • Their trainer, Ash Ketchum himself is a very likable and well-developed character, who gets himself and his team more mature as the series goes on and learns many things on their journey, and has grown more down to earth later on.
      • In fact, there really aren’t any "loathsome" Pokémon, since all of them are quirky, lovable, or at best, have decent personalities (even the ones who don't win often)!
    12. The team sometimes use clever Pokémon battling strategies from Ash that also work in the game if fans want to try them.
    13. They all have very epic and iconic Pokémon battle scenes that get more intense as the series goes on. One of the most epic battles is Ash’s Greninja vs Alain’s Charizard in the Kalos League for example.
    14. Earned a lot of rewards and prizes for many of the battles they won for Ash and gaining respect in said battles for their efforts.
    15. Awesome voice acting in both Japanese and English, though a big highlight is that the 4Kids dub is splendid since all the actors are very well cast, and do put in a pretty great performance.
    16. The pacing is decent in the majority of these Pokémon, especially in the earlier seasons.
    17. All of them have a wonderful bond with their trainer and it really shows.

    Bad Qualities

    1. Not all of Ash’s Pokémon are good or that great in terms of battling performance:
      • Butterfree, while still very memorable, didn’t really battle that much.
      • Kingler, Primeape and Muk, while still decent battlers, didn’t really battle that much either due to lack of screen time.
      • Some of the Ash’s Pokémon who suffered a lot of loses include Pidgeot, Totodile, Noctowl, Torkoal, Torterra, Unfeazant, Palpitoad, Sceptile (as Grovile), and Noivern.
      • Ash's Charmander was likable, but grew kind of unlikable when it turned into a Charmeleon, and then into a stubborn Charizard and lost respect for Ash without a reason or rhyme than he's just stubborn. The bright side is Ash's Charizard is no longer stubborn, and thanks to Ash saving his life in the episode "Charizard Chills", Charizard has gained full respect for him.
      • Gible, while not a bad Pokémon, also didn't really battle that much either other than being used for Draco Meteor.
    2. In two episodes of season 1, Rachael Lillis had to voice Pikachu due to the overlapping of the other characters' voices. The most infamous example is in "The School of Hard Knocks", where most of the episode has Ash's Pikachu being voiced by Lillis herself, even Lillis wasn't too happy with the idea.
