"Your hair is winter fireJanuary Ember
My heart burns there too"
-Ben Hanscom's poem dedicated to Beverly MarshBeverly Marsh is a local resident of Derry, Maine, the love interest of The Loser’s Club and a major character in Stephen King’s phenomenal novel, IT. She is portrayed by Emily Perkins and Anette O’Toole in the 1990 mini-series, Sophia Lillis in the 2017 film adaptation and Jessica Chastain in it’s 2019 sequel, It: Chapter Two.
Why She Rocks
- She is the only female in an all-male group, and is also one of the bravest.
- She is strong, independent, kind, bold and never lets her guard down, whether she is being bullied by Greta or Henry, attacked by IT or abused by her husband and/or by her father.
- Her beautiful looks and selfless nature makes her the love interest of the boys of The Loser’s Club, mainly Ben Hanscom.
- When it comes to conflict (in her own words), she wants to run towards something, not away from it.
- She is not hesitant to do what she can to defend herself, like attacking her father after he attempted to rape her.
- As shown in the 2017 film adaptation, she was able to see into IT’s dead lights and lived to tell what she saw in it.
- One of her most bravest moments is when she stares IT right in the eyes and say’s she‘s not afraid of it.
- As shown in the book and minI-series, she has amazing skills at using a slingshot, which The Loser’s Club use against IT.
